Weiterlesen We enjoyed Las Caglias, eating dinner for two on a Friday night. It was busy, but Dominik Huber was extremely welcoming when we reserved and also when we arrived. We were lucky to find a parking space right outside and sat in the Stube, which was initially cosy, quiet and stylishly chalet chic. The food was good and served competently. Because the restaurant has very low ceilings it did feel a little like being underground, and there’s the rub: a very loud, outspoken group arrived and were seated at the table next to us. Of course we cannot and do not blame the restaurant for the behaviour of their guests, so we tried to enjoy the rest of our evening, but it was impossible to hear anything other than the conversation had by the new arrivals. Some music might have helped, but the atmosphere couldn’t compete with the opinions of these diners delivered direct but unbidden to us. I am now extremely well informed regarding private London nursery schools, but enjoyed the peace and quiet of Las Caglias‘ sister restaurant Conn the following day much more. Definitely worth another try on a quieter night.

Das lokale Bier kann gekauft werden, wenn Sie den Bierbrauer zwischen den Fußballspielen erwischen, er hat uns ebenso herzlich willkommen geheißen, als wir nach dem Mittagessen erschienen sind. Ausgezeichnete Weine im Glas und köstliche Desserts, die in Mini-Versionen bestellt werden können, so dass Sie zwei oder drei wählen können, eine sehr gute Idee!

Es ist perfekt für die Mitnahme von Verwandten, vor allem, wenn Sie sich über eine sehr gut bediente klassische Küche mit guter Qualität unterhalten möchten. Funky und aufregend ist es weder, noch ist es billig, aber es ist ein ausgezeichneter Zweck, weder zu auffällig noch modisch zu sein. Um die volle Punktzahl zu erreichen, muss die Küche jedoch der Qualität des Front-of-House-Service entsprechen: Sie war angemessen, aber nicht hervorragend.

Friday lunchtime appears to be popular with the local retirees, it’s easy to see why as we could easily have chosen three different menu variations and been equally delighted. In the end we had chestnut soup with candied orange, Rieslingsoup with trout, Salmon tartar with lentils and guacamole and a super delicious chocolate mousse.
