Weiterlesen *Disclaimer* 1 STAR Rating due to poor service/experience, not the food: Where to start? I excitedly stopped here with friends (out of the way) and was promptly met with a warning that I was not allowed to bring outside drinks ? including water ? which Iwas holding, and that I had to buy everything there. Ok. When I walked to the register to order, I was hoping forrecommendations as it was my first time, but the same man (presumably the owner), firmly stated that ?people know what they wantto order once they get to the register.? While I hoped for a dish with avocado, I saw friends had ordered a bowl, so went with abowl instead. Note: I was met with annoyance when asking to add avocado to other dishes. Ok. No additions. I received my dishand it was not the chicken bowl I had ordered. In fact, the man insisted I ordered something he recommended, which I hadn?t, andasked if I wanted to buy the bowl in addition. Ok. Clearly there is something off here. And by that point, I just wanted toleave. Unfortunately for this restaurant, the owner seemingly has the worst bedside manner, and will likely be its demise. 1Star since the food was sadly the most noteworthy part but the overall experience was so disheartening ? if you?re okay beingtreated like a child, or subhuman, enjoy!

The food was really delicious! The chicken was crisp and flavorful, the Mac and Cheese was scrumptious, the collard greens were savory and the cornbread was flu... Weiterlesen The food was really delicious! The chicken was crisp and flavorful, the Mac and Cheese was scrumptious, the collard greens were savory and the cornbread was fluffy. The sides complimented the chicken well. My only issue is that the one side chicken plate (small) was $10 while the two side chicken plate (large) was $18. I understand inflation but that seems like it’s too steep. $10 seems like a great value meal while $18 seems like it’s overpriced. Just my two cents.

The decor is very hip and CLEAN. The first time I went to Genie 's was on a Sunday afternoon and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. The service was top notch. The waitress spent a lot of time chatting with us. Tea, water, and a hookah for two was about $30. The second time was on a Saturday night and I am glad I made reservations because the place was PACKED. The young lady who had been our waitress on our first visit was belly dancing, which I never realized was a participatory activity. She is a very charismatic lady and did a fantastic job drawing the crowd in, not to mention that she is a fantastic dancer. This night we shared a plate of some traditional middle eastern cuisine. Genie 's is BYOB with a pour charge of $1. Our bill that night (we were there for about 3 1/2 hours) for the food, drinks, and two hookah 's (we got a premium hookah which is just shy of $30) was about $70. So far I have had both the herbal molasses shisha and two different tobacco shishas and both were very good. I can see where this place may not be for everyone it is colorful, engaging, hip, and FUN. Frumpy grumpy people probably wouldn 't enjoy it, but for people who want to chill out, relax, and who are open to some new experiences this place is worth it! BTW, I drive 90 minutes to go here from CT and would gladly drive even further!

I couldn't believe how flavorful the sauce was...and the crust was crispy on the outside, soft but not doughy on the inside. AJ, you are doing Pizza right.

AJ's pizza is definitely my go to place if and when I am ever in the area.
