We came on foot from Ascona over the hill on a nice winding street with plenty of plush villas sourrounded by parks with huge trees and autumn leaves all over....The hotel/restaurant entry is accross the large parking lot, on the backside and not inviting. The welcome is professional. We were given a table in the back. No window tables with this magnificent view over the lake. The window tables are taken up by the the hotel regulars. They come early, in numbers, 40+, many 60+, casually dressed, German Swiss? They profit from the bed+dinner arrangement. We are the exception: dinner only, arriving on foot. The head waiter is apologetic, very friendly. We order the autumn menu with prosciutto crudo with figs and a slice of melon for a starter and osso bucco for the main course. And a burrata with tomato to start and an entrecote with potato gratin and various vegetables. We fought to get a good local Ticino red wine by the glass that was not listed. We successfully got thanks to the friendly waiter an excellent Carato. A small dessert from the menu with a shot of Ratafia. In somma: ok. But our expectations were much higher. The big restaurant and hotel is full almost end of season. So people seem to like it. We walk back half an hour to Ascona through the night with a feeling of: we have seen it. That's enough. No excitement.

Decent sized rooms for cheap prices. They have heating beds, microwave, clean bathrooms, basically everything you needed. The only thing missing was chromecast... Weiterlesen We were coming back from Gold coast and ordered food on telephone for take away as we all were tired. We had to wait for delivery though sufficient time was given. The quality of food was horrible and tasteless. It was a sad end to...a lovely day.

A group of five of us had brunch at Siren. We ordered at and the order came out from the kitchen in three stages over an hour. It would have been lovely to all... Weiterlesen A group of five of us had brunch at Siren. We ordered at and the order came out from the kitchen in three stages over an hour. It would have been lovely to all eat together as we all ordered at the same time....Other tables were served in between ours and the kitchen seemed to be uninterested in completing our order. The waitress was lovely and tried her best to resolve the delay. I was given a refund by a very rude manager who argued with us about the time of our order and offered no apology. I have to say I won't be returning to Siren again. Probably a great place for a drink but give the food a miss, its average at best anyway, and there are far better places to eat.
