28.07.2023 - 19:21The Trattoria Siena is a superb Italian restaurant with an excellent location to soak up the sun. So its sun terrace is really something to keep in mind for the sun-loving folks here in Graz. The slogan of the Siena is therefore a piece of the Tuscany in the heart of Graz. Actually the location itself is in the northern part of Graz-Geidorf to be specific. The pizza here at the Trattoria Siena is very tasty and comes in large portions. Together with a Radler, this Austrian mix drink, half lemonade and half beer, I had the Mini Pizza, but it’s still big anyways. My Salami Pizza tastes delicious and reminds of the great pizzas I had in Italy. But of course they have pasta, seafood, and many other specialities from the Italian cuisine here. The staff is friendly and the WiFi works perfectly, and as mentioned already, the location is perfect for soaking up the sun. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

28.07.2023 - 10:19Here at the Starcke Haus, or as the locals say the Starcke Häuschen due to its small size, you will experience the wild beauty of the Schloßberg, Graz ' famous Castle Hill, on which also the clock tower is located, the landmark of Graz. The Starcke Haus, named after an actor from Dresden Gustav Starcke who lived here, has a long tradition and is built onto the Schloßberg, meaning this place is nestled up on the castle hill of Graz, and from here you can see over large parts of the famous UNESCO-listed Old Town of Graz. There is a sun terrace as well as a long-stretched nice patio nestled up on the hill, which is easy to reach from the Starcke Haus itself. The Cappuccino we had here was very delicious and sipped in a very need environment reminding of a little Zen Garden. As the Starcke Haus itself is inside more of a tiny lodge I strongly recommend to sit outside in the patio if possible, but as this place is nestled up on the hill it is very very wind shielded and therefore even on the few stormy days of Graz something to consider going to. The spectacular and the fine atmosphere is also something for couples, who want to have it more romantic than elsewhere. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

28.07.2023 - 09:01Papa Joe’s is a great place to soak up the Mexican atmosphere. This place in the center of the city Kapfenberg, which is in the heartland of Styria’s mining region. So you are experiencing Mexico surrounded by high Alpine mountains only about 40 minutes by car north of Graz. This place is run by an Austrian who has strong family bonds to Mexico and lived there for many years. He is really into the Mexican culture so to speak. Therefore everything inside reminds you on Mexico, the walls, the ceiling, the tables, the objects, since the whole interior is decorated in Mexican style. So in terms of colorful setting and accessories you will think you are in Mexico. When it comes to the meals, the food tastes also very authentic. We had a chili con carme and didn’t regret it. It is delicious and a little bit spicy as it is supposed to be. From Kapfenberg with love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

28.07.2023 - 07:31Zum Schinakl is a nice traditional Viennese restaurant at the Alte Donau in vicinity of the Vienna International Center, aka United Nations, UNO City. That’s also where this places’ name derives from, as Schinakl is a term for a special kind of ship and this place is located right at the river banks of the Old Danube, the Alte Donau. The interior is nice and traditional Austrian in style with many little niches to have good talks with good friends. Here at Zum Schinakl you can have these typical Viennese, respectively Austrian dishes like the Wiener Schnitzel, or the Zwiebelrostbraten, which we both enjoyed. For dessert I had a Café Verlängerter and Rhabarberkuchen, a pieplant cake. Yummy yummy! From Vienna with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

28.07.2023 - 05:18When the Grazer vegetarian scene more and more formed back in the 1980ies, in that extent that a vegetarian restaurant can be run profitable in Graz, the Mangolds was one of the first of its kind and the biggest, a veggie self-service restaurant, which is seen as institution for the vegetarians of Graz ever since. The Mangolds is still making its main profit at lunch time, and therefore it closes early, on weekdays at 7 pm, and on Saturday at 4 pm. In recent years there are more and more products for vegans here at Mangolds in the Griesgasse. Its location in the city center makes this restaurant and café a perfect spot to explore the city. Since recently there is also another Mangolds in the Zinzendorfgasse, in the campus area of the Karl-Franzens-University, the heart of the student life of Graz, which is open until 10 pm. Here at Mangolds Griesgasse the seating area got more coziness, since it was refurbished a while ago. Now there is even a sofa corner and plenty of seats, which were nicely cushioned, but there are still some wooden chairs and stools from the before the renovation, for those who like to have it more spartan. And Mangolds even have a Kids Corner for our little ones. The staff is very friendly and willing to help and the vegetarian and vegan food is delicious and its worth mentioning, that you put as much as you like on your plate, as it will be weighted at the cashier. So you only pay the weight of the meal on your plate. That makes it quite convenient, as you can control it for yourself, how much you want to eat. There are also delicious whole grain desserts here at Mangolds. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

28.07.2023 - 01:17The Mexican restaurant Doña Irma is a great authentic Mexican restaurant established and run by folks from southern Mexico, from Chiapas to be specific, as they told me. The family who runs the Doña Irma is very cordial and friendly and easy-going. The restaurant itself is colorful as it is supposed to be for a Mexican restaurant run by Mexicans. This place represents this special charm of Mexico. It is also perceived as a cultural meeting point by many Mexicans and Latin Americans in Vienna, to keep up with their traditions. The food is delicious and the drinks are good as well. I had a strawberry cocktail and a burrito con pollo, so a chicken burrito, with salad and a yogurt cream on top of it. With Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann
