I can't wrap my head around that level of efficiency. It's the best magic show I've ever witnessed regardlessof location time /or date. Absolutely ridiculous how insanely busy they stay.

Food was overcooked in almost every aspect. The tomatoes were too thin and fried hard. They lacked seasoning. The grilled chicken (kids) was dry and burnt. The... The mixed vegetables were soaked in vinegar, to the point of inediblity. The sourdough bread was overcooked, honestly quite burnt. The half chicken was overcooked and dry. The burger tasted like charcoaled meat. The grilled cheese was cooked in olive oil, making it an odd flavor. The salmon, ordered medium, was overcooked. The skin was chewy. The crumble was odd. The chocolate tasted like chocolate cardboard cereal and the berry compot was both too tart and sweet simultaneously. Overall, this was a huge miss.

Weiterlesen My past experience with Iris is near and dear to my heart because I hosted my Bridesmaid’s luncheon there almost 13 years ago and it was beautiful!! Fast forward to 2018, I hosted my sister’s bridesmaid luncheon here and it was a completely different experience. Unacceptable to say the least. At first, I spoke with one of the Managers, Ashley King. She was great! Very accommodating, friendly over the phone, helpful and even allowed us to personalize our menu. Unfortunately, Ashley did not work on the actual day of our event and boy could we tell. The service was horrible. The waitress was non-existent. We had a party of nine and every time we needed assistance we had to hunt her down. The manager that day was extremely condescending and obnoxiously fake and offered a lot of lame excuses. It just was not what we expected at all. And honestly, I was extremely disappointed in myself and a little embarrassed for recommending this place to my sister. I had very high expectations due to my experience 13 years ago. So if you decide to host an event at Iris, please do not go in having any expectations because it’s extremely possible that you will be disappointed.

Alexander was, as expected, met in such a facility with a receptive host who was quick to put on me. My server quickly arrived and answered all the questions I had about the menu, as if they wrote it themselves and cooked all food on it. I ordered the French dip with fries and an additional side of their smash potatoes to drink with a gin and tonic. On his arrival I was met with a wonderfully looking French dip, crispy pommes and smash potatoes. I first tried the frits, they were crispy and well seasoned with the addition of their ketchup I could not have asked for something better. The French bath was tender and the sauerkraut was not too powerful and the duck fell short with the Au Jus. The Au jus tasted more turkey than I usually prefer. The smash potatoes were a disappointment, even if potatoes were affected, they seemed to be missing from any taste and even smash potatoes that they had left behind a wealth of potato dumps. I did my best to season the potatoes at my table, but the salt and pepper delivered little to reduce the craving for butter-rich potatoes. My gin and tonic was by far the greatest surprise for me, it had a pretty healthy gin and was not the watered down drinks I used to be. At the end of my meal I received an oral menu of her desserts, which all sounded tasty, I was sad though, when I was told the seasonal dessert, was quite large and intended for several people and due to the frozen nature of a part of it would not travel well. In all I enjoyed J Alexander's, but I wondered if I would return. The staff was fantastic and the setting was perfect for the conversation without being loud, but I am not sure if this can compensate for the tedious potatoes and desserts for many people.

I ordered an Orange Stinger whiskey craft cocktail that was inventive and quite tasty. We started with house made kielbasa with sauerkraut and mustard. Our other appetizer was a potato pancake with panko breading with a delicious sauce with fresh lettuces. The appetizers were beautifully plated and had balanced flavors. The mustard was spicy but did not overpower. We shared an entree which was Seared Beef Filet Medallions – with Potato Dumplings, Wilted Greens, Madeira Glazed Maitake and Cremini Muhrooms, Stroganoff Sauce. The steak was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly to a medium rare temperature. The mushroom sauce was rich and buttery with the tender dumplings. Each bite was a perfect crescendo of flavors. We did not order dessert, but next time we will. The desserts looked scrumptious! The atmosphere is cozy, relaxing, and has an upbeat vibe. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Overall, a delightful evening.
