Public ferry rivercats spend about 10 minutes turnaround at PARRAMATTA which is plenty long enough to grab some food at the pier’s POINT BAR RESTAURANT downstairs fast food counter (with an hour between ferries, there’s an upstairs restaurant...with water views where you can enjoy a longer lunch . Alternatively you may prefer to spend the time exploring PARRA’s nearby CBD as we did). I ordered a hamburger and Coke, Lady Eldo a toasted cheese sandwich and bottled water. Both arrived within 5 minutes, Mine came with chips and a salad, was huge and yummy. The Lady didn’t complain either. A pleasant place: plenty of seating and tables out front in the warm sunshine, with nice water views plenty of same under shade. TIPS the place sells alcohol if you fancy a quicker trip back to the city, PARRA rail station is about 20mins walk south of the pier. PARRA’S CBD is between the pier and station, but if you fancy an explore note much resembled a bomb site at time of writing because of construction of the light rail. It might pay to check before heading that way. But if construction sites whelm you……. the near pier precinct is nicely landscaped and has riverside walking paths. THE BIG ORDERING TIP “cut the pizza in 4 pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat 6” Y BERA our captain held the ferry an extra few minutes for some passengers making a late approach to the pier. see my photos see other reviewers’ photos
