Restaurant bewertenAt the suggestion of a friend, I came to Ris for the meatloaf dinner, which they only serve on Mondays (if there are leftovers, they'll add it to the Tuesday lunch menu). It is served with mashed potatoes and green beans. I also ordered the spaghetti squash with hazelnuts, cheese, and pomegranate pips. And to drink, I had the raspberry lime Ricky (non-alcoholic).The entree was tasty and satisfying. I wanted to like the side dish, but it ate a little too sweet for me. I ended up watering down the Ricky a bit to tame the sweet-tart drink.Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance didn't seem very easy for mobility impaired customers to navigate without assistance. Not only must the two doors be held open, they are not aligned with each other.
My wife and I ate at Ris this past week for our weekly Thursday date night, having returned after a long delay. The food was excellent; one of the best meals we 've had in DC. this year. Service was quite slow, however, possibly as a result of several large tables. I do hope that Ris takes a pause at some point to update/refresh the restaurant as the wallpaper, carpet and bathrooms are clearly showing their age.
The food was lovely, the service warm and friendly, from everyone who helped us. It’s nice to see a place firing on all pistons after being around for 13 years.
Exceptional menu and dishes that are outside the norm. Beautiful presentation and great tasting. Definitely worth it all.
Staying close by and heard this place was nominated for a James Beard award. Made a reservation and now I know why it was nominated! RIS is not pretentious, not fancy tweezer food, just simple food done exceptionally well. I started with the tomato olive oil soup. The name was a little strange, but the soup was fabulous! A great tomato flavor and hearty, not creamy. Then, just below the surface an arancini! What a tasty surprise. I ordered the cheeseburger just for fun and it was outstanding. Cooked perfect with a tremendous depth of flavor on a house made potato roll. Gracious me! RIS definitely deserves the nomination I hope more restaurants like this one will be recognized.
