Restaurant bewertenSome places are just unique. My wife and I are extremely happy to have the owners creativity and extremely high standards shine in her brick and mortar space here in Warwick rather than in Brooklyn or somewhere else similar. Both the ferments and drinks, as well as the bakes are really worth trying, as well as other seasonal items (e.g extraordinary kombucha in the summer). Looking forward to tasting more interesting creations from the talented owner.
I had the vegan chickpea Tempe sandwich on sourdough bread. So delicious!!! My husband had a fresh mocha which was also amazing. I will definitely come here again the next time I’m in Warwick
5* for coffee, 5* for food, and 5* many times over for the intention that Tara puts into her cafe and her craft. It's great to find a local cafe that you love supporting but it is next level when you realize that the cafe has been created so the owner can share the things that are the foundation of her own vibrance and passion with patrons.Tara doesn't just know the items/ingredients of her sandwiches, treats, and drinks inside and out, she has hand curated the menu and offerings to ensure the quality and standard are above anything else you'll find in the area.I didn't know how delicious I would find fermented vegetables, sourdough, and tempeh not to mention how good I feel eating them! until I tried Tara's food. She is a true master of her craft. Some points to share: whilst the menu is very comfortable for vegans/vegetarians Tara has whole milk in addition to nut milks for drinks; ask what special treats Tara has when you go in so you don't miss her housemade tepache, kombucha, baked goods, or popsicles; you can ask Tara to bake you a full loaf of her sourdough (you'll be ruined for other bread after you taste hers)!; I have brought my own cup to reduce waste and Tara was happy to use my own mug.Tara's quiet hospitality and intention is something you can *feel* when you visit Drifters.
Amazing local artisanal bakery and cafe. Best sourdough vegan sandwiches with tempeh, selection of kimchi, sauerkraut and other fermented goodies great matcha latte too. Everything made from scratch on the spot!Vegetarian options: Vegan tempeh sandwichDietary restrictions: Great vegan options!
Food for Consciousness.I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had, what I would call, a genuine full “blown food experience.” One of those rare moments where the food you are eating completely overwhelms your senses, and you have a whole-body experience of being nourished and transformed by the combination of tastes. The world and time stand still, and one is lost in the reverie of how wonderful the food is.One of those moments has been eating a Tempeh Ruben Sandwich at Drifters Ferments in Warwick. The fact that Tara makes all the ingredients herself creates a unique and singular experience. And I keep coming back because it never disappoints.About a month ago I went to Colorado to visit a friend and we did a psilocybin (mushroom) psychedelic journey together. It was powerful and many insights occurred within the journey, one of which was that I had a direct comprehension of Tara’s skill with fermentation and why her food had had such an effect on me. I am going to try to put this into words and I am not even sure it's possible because this is super subtle stuff, but here goes:On the journey, I was seeing on an almost cellular level, the organic nature of EVERYTHING. The earth, human beings, and everything on this planet is organic and is in a constant process of exchange and transformation. I could then see Tara’s specific energy as a human being and how that supercharged the fermentation process of her food in a unique way.I had a direct appreciation of the intricate complexity, subtlety and scope of organic power that is embodied in Tara’s food. And I experienced not only how but, why, that food had affected me. It was an organic exchange of energy through food on a cellular level that had literally changed, shifted and raised my consciousness on the most subtle level. We are what we eat took on a deeper meaning and it really was food for thought! There.... not sure I captured it but I hope you will try Drifter’s yourself someday and find out for yourself.Thank you Tara.
