Modus - Toronto

We came to dinner and were shown to our abe by the owner, I think. server was instant and explains a few of the elements in the menu and the specialties. I chose the bark carpaccio. it was perfect, absolutely melted n my mouth., the Aioli sauce was not heavy, and criminals were not overwhelming. we ordered a good bottle cab sav that I had not before. I was worried about the taste. the owner has happened at this moment and tasted the wein and knocked him off for a few minutes. he was right, it was wonderful. my appetizer was one of the specials a pasty with delicate tips in a rich fleshy broth with a few light vegetables. it was very good and a lot was right. the music, the ambiente and the personal added to a beautiful culinary experience. I have long wanted for a good Italian place that downtown mode is our choice, not only for italians, because of this first excellent experience.

Couple beautiful glasses wein and a simple spaghetti and meatball wagyu) but, it was really nice. would definitely come back for a more elaborate meal

The place is fairly upscale. I ordered two favourites of mine, the grilled calamari and the veal piccata. The calamari was terrible. It was overpowered with a charred taste from the grill. That is not the point of grilled calamari with its sensitive flavours. The...leeks and so that came with it, didn't complement the flavours. The veal was fairly tasty but half the portion size I expected. The side it came with of cauliflower and cheese was terrible. Difficult to mess up something so simple...

On a Monday evening, it was quiet, perfect for a group business dinner. Good choice of menu items. Pastas were very good, but pricey for the portions. Cesar salad was average at best. Good service. Excellent sorbets for desert, especially the chocolate one.

We were a group of for dinner. The menu has a lot of options and they also have several specials to choose from. Everyone really enjoyed their starters and entrees. Those who had dessert said it was very good. There's a good selection of...wines. Service was very good. On the pricey side.
