Restaurant bewertenWe booked in advance and when we arrived, were very welcome. We had our little dog with us and were a hot day, the first thing the waiter did was our tombs a bowl of fresh water. We order pizzas that were freshly made, quickly arrived and were delicious, a bit too big, but they put what we did not eat in a take-away box. The desserts were just as good and serve the design of birra tti, which was perfect for an Italian meal.
We visited La Gueule du Four on Saturday after visiting the local market and medieval town. I booked in advance, but there were many tables and we were offered a choice. The restaurant does not look much from the outside and is over the river...from the main tourist area but inside it is beautiful and just a short walk from all the main attractions of the city. The menu was, as expected, based pizza, but there was a pizza of the month and some really good combinations to choose from. When the pizzas arrived, they were full of blows with beautiful fresh bases! Service was excellent and everything in everything we would highly recommend!
I've been in this part of France for about 15 years, and it's clear that the local food scene has actually had several notches. This place used to be a tiny walkway pizzeria: ok, but not amazing. Recently they have expanded the menu and the room. It is safe to say that they are now making the best pizza in France to make a mile. Who knew there were such crusts? Flavours like these? Such ideas? What? It is a truly stunning experience. Run, don't run. If, as likely, they have no tables, order pizza to take away. Make it soon because it won't be long before you have to wait for weeks just to get a table.
We visited this restaurant on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is a little way out of town but easily accessible by foot. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean and modern with a lovely outdoor dining...area. We had great pizzas traditional ones and ones with a local touch. Lovely bases, well cooked. The pasta dishes were great. We couldn't have desserts as the mains were big but they looked amazing. The staff were most obliging when we asked for uneaten food to be packed up for us to take home. We returned the following week. There were 3 generations of us in the groups both times (from 18 to 80) so it appealed to everyone. I would recommend this restaurant and will definitely go again next summer probably more than once.
We ate here on a warm September evening whilst staying in Perigueux to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and this tiny place was buzzing. Fast forward to opening time (6:30pm) on a dark February evening and our experience was just as good....We came in September because this place does vegan pizza and it's a novelty as a countryside-dwelling vegan to eat out in France! I'd been wanting to come back ever since. Our chance came last Thursday and we grabbed it. We had our dog with us and asked if he'd be allowed to come in; despite this place being tiny, he was welcomed by both the proprietor and by the lovely French couple sat at the table next to us. I had the vegan pizza again (with vegan cheese) which was as tasty as I remembered and my husband chose his own topping of balsamic onions, capers and mushrooms on a tomato base, which was delicious. This place is great. They cater for all pizza lovers, including gluten free crusts. I highly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.
