Restaurant bewertenAfter reading recommendations on Facebook, I was excited to try this restaurant for Sunday lunch. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly, but I was disappointed by the lack of ambiance in the dining room. The pub is in need of a renovation, with basic decor and no background music. It was also chilly inside, not the cozy atmosphere I was expecting. The menus were cheaply made, and the cutlery was old and worn. The pies we ordered were freshly cooked and tasty, but nothing special. The desserts were decent, but overall, the experience fell short of my high expectations. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.
We brought our three grandchildren, aged 9, 7, and 2, to lunch at the restaurant on Friday. The older kids were intrigued by the meaning of the pub's name. The menu had something for everyone in our small group. The staff were very accommodating and able to cater to the children's preferences. I enjoyed the small haddock and chips, which were delicious. My husband said his steak and ale pie was excellent. The children's menu was just right, with options like chicken nuggets, chips, and peas that were better than the usual fare. The chipolatas were also a hit (7 good-sized sausages) served with peas or beans, mash, or chips. We will definitely be returning.
We have eaten at this restaurant before and have always had a great experience. The ham hock pie is amazing. The staff are very polite and it's a favorite spot of ours. It's just unfortunate that they stop serving so early on Saturday evenings.
Our friends booked this pub for our regular get together. What a treat, I ordered spicy chicken on ciabatta, absolutely delicious. The rest had fish chips, steak pie bangers champ. All superb, in fact the sausages were deemed the best ever! Lovely, friendly, efficient girls really couldn't fault it. Deserves a rare 5 stars from me!
We had a table booked in the thatch for a family lunch, when we got there, they didn't even have one real ale on so we walked out, phoned the four alls and set off. When we got there 10 minutes later there was a table set up for us with a high chair and menus that are easy to read even if you forget your glasses. Great. There was plenty of good quality real ale and the the staff were on the ball. The food was great and the atmosphere was friendly and inviting. We loved it and had a great afternoon in there. We will be going again. We would never had known if the Thatch hadn't had been so bad.
