Restaurant bewertenGreat food, service and atmosphere. Tried different menue combinations within the family of fish and meat and all were just wonderful. I will be back.
For our last meal in Nice, after being here for a month. We chose Bistro Antoine as it has always been one of our go-to places along with 2 others from the same owner. My boyfriend started with the country pate which he thought had a very good flavor profile but was a little on the dry/dense side. He the had the magret and asked for it rare-medium rare (saigant) When it was presented it was medium and he found it very chewy which he attributed to being overcooked. The waiter gladly took away and returned with another which was cooked a little better. However, it was just as chewy and could not be swallowed. My boyfriend has duck fairly frequently and chalked it up to an inferior product . He took 2 bites of this one and asked the waiter to take it away as it was inedible. Would have been nice if they took it off the bill but we understand, Ihad the season’s vegetable plate which was a little odd but tasty. All in all, not the meal we’ve come to expect here and especially not on our last night. Will consider other options on our next visit to Nice.
Ignore the bad reviews. The customer service and food here were both excellent and I seriously had one of the best meals of my life! (pork cheeks with polenta mash - soooo good!). Everything from start to finish was just so enjoyable, from the owner (?) on arrival who was so welcoming to the free tuna pate and bread you get before the meal, I loved it all. It's also surprising that this place is in the heart of tourist central, but trust me, try it! (and get the pork cheeks, I'm still dreaming about them).
My wife and I have dined at this restaurant a number of times over the years. The food is good. But the attention to detail when it comes to a customer is non existent. I ordered a half bottle of wine. The waiter poured me a glass then decided to move the menu blackboard to another location on the table. In the process he knocked over my glass of wine, half of it spilling on my lap. No apology. He grabbed some paper towels and cleaned up the spilt wine from the table and wall. He never offered to replace the glass of wine which equaled about a third of the bottle. My wife asked him for some soda water to try and limit the damage to my pants. He brought a bottle of sparkling water. All of this took place under the watchful eye of the owner. Not once did she approach the table. Here's the best part. At the end of the meal we realized they charged me for the sparkling water. I should have complained but I sat quietly, determined to never return again. There are a lot of bistros in Nice with better food and better customer service. I shall seek them out in the future.
This place is what Niçoise French food is all about! Fresh fish, tartar and so on. Great deserts too! The waiters don't fuss over you but they are not rude. I come for the food! Highly recommended!
