Bridgeman's Bistro - Mill Bay

Been before and will go again. We live in North Nanaimo and have friends in Victoria. Mill Bay is a great half way meeting place. Our visit today was to celebrate my wife's Birthday which was on Mothers da. We were a party of eight and everyone was pleased with all aspects of the Bistro. Our server Francis was professional and pleasant . She looked after all our requests . If you have not been to this venue.GO

I booked well over week in advance and asked for a window table, as it was my birthday. When we got there we were stuck in the middle of the room. We could not see the water at all for all the lights in the room; might as well have been in a windowless basement. The calamari had so much spicy breading on it, there was no taste of calamari at all. The steak and scallops is highly misleading, as I was given 1 small scallop, cut into 4 thin slices, and wrapped in so much bacon, that by the time I extricated the slice of scallop, it tasted like a salt pellet. I asked for my steak to have no blood , yet blood oozed out all over and ruined the veggies, so I couldn 't eat anything on the plate. Right on the water and yet they don 't serve fish that isn 't battered and deep fried with fries. That was the worst $35 entree, worst alleged view , and the worst birthday ever. It gets 1 out of 5 because the waitress was nice.

We had a very bad experience. Our reservation was lost and the receptionist basically told us we just didn’t make it or we were not telling the truth. We are old and don’t hear well so there may have been a misunderstanding but we were treated poorly. We had a nice meal,and the service was good. Then the manager presented us with our bill I TRIED to tell him about the poor customer service we received when we came in. He was surly and as we left I tried to tell him again. He said we were the problem and told us to leave the restaurant and not come back. I believe the inexperienced young woman at the front desk told him that we were rude to her….. which was not the case but he did nothing to right the stipulation and now we have a very poor opinion of this restaurant

The food and service are wonderful but I'll never go back due to the extreme noise level! Please take a hint from Buddhist temples and The Hollywood Bowl and hang some noise buffers from the ceiling.
