Restaurant bewertenWe have visited Three Brothers many times and always enjoyed great food and hospitality, but after the last two visits, won't be returning. We took english friends for a Saturday lunch in June and were very disappointed with the lack of service, the lengthy delay in having our orders taken and the quality of the meals.Today we tried again. The schnitzel was delivered to the table charcoaled, when we mentioned the state of it, the response was, "yes, we were wondering if we should bring it out". It was returned to the kitchen, the second attempt was the same, third time lucky. The lamb cutlets were tasty, but presentation was poor, soup was nice, battered fish was overcooked.Quite a few choices on the menu were not available, at least this time our waitress advised us when the menus were delivered. Last time after a long wait to order, two of the 4 choices were off the menu.Disappointing.
Having recently returned from a trip to the UK I have been missing the lovely country pubs over there so I was delighted to find that the Three Brothers Arms was about as close as you can get to a similar pub in Australia. My partner and I went there for dinner on a cold and wet Wednesday night so it was fairly quiet and we were very fortunate to have the table closest to the open fire. We are both vegetarian and there were a couple of great meat-free options including a risotto, a pasta and an eggplant stack but we decided to share the spring rolls, some wedges and had a soup each. It was perfect for a winter night. The soup came with a couple of dinner rolls and we thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The wine list was very extensive and I enjoyed 2 glasses of a local Shiraz. The staff were terrific. I will definitely be back. On Friday nights there is music and apparently Sunday lunch is very popular so book ahead for these times and ask for the table by the fire!
Ended up here for dinner last night as our BnB we were at were booked out to eat there. What a stroke of luck! My Wife and I ventured in unannounced at around 5:45pm and were welcomed by a lovely staff member. The place was empty as dinner starts from 6pm onwards so we got to pick which ever table we wanted. Scored the best table in the place in front of the fireplace. Perfect spot to enjoy a few beers and a few reds from the region. The meals were amazing. Pork belly with crackling and the lamb shanks were so good! Didn't really know what to expect from an old hotel on a Sunday night in Macclesfield but wow did we get a great surprise! Would def visit here again and or recommend to people travelling through. Great historic hotel - superb staff and even better meals. Thanks for a nice evening.
We made a booking for a table for two and when we arrived the waitress had to find us a table. We placed our order and sat for some time in the dark before the lighting in the room was even turned on. Over an hour with the owner and waitresses walking past our table on numerous occasions we still had not received any of our meal. It got to the stage where a young waitress looked at us sheepishly and asked if we waiting for drinks, I requested if we could at least be served our bread which we ordered. She came back empty handed and asked us if we had ordered anything else, which we had ordered gourmet bread and main meals. Upon her return she informed us that they could not find our order. We requested to see the owner who apologised and offered a free meal but to wait this length of time and to hear the waitresses continually apologising to other patrons in other rooms for the lengthy delay of their meals, we were not about to wait any longer and left. The lady who stood with the owner was not apologetic and could only tell us people make mistakes, this we found was very unprofessional. Terrible experience and will not be returning.
Food and welcome was great. The house red was an excellent Cab Sauv from McLaren Vale. We had either Beef Guinness Pie or Chicken Ballotine, and both dishes were very good. Our table was by the open fire in a very traditional pub dining room.
