After visiting the Lachute market, we decided to go out for lunch before returning to Mtl. We left the market around with what seemed everyone else. The traffic on Rue Principal, where most of the restaurants are located felt endless. Really cannot complain, as...we found lots of treasures and some great veggies at the farmer's market section. We ended up at this restaurant, not because of the appealing name, but because it had a parking lot. Impossible to find parking on the street. There was lots of choice on the menu but when the food came, it was quite the disappointment. I ordered Chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was good but it reminded me of the chicken strips I buy at Costco and quite possibly was. The croutons were reminiscent of toasted white bread, bacon was store bought pseudo bacon bits and the dressing was also store bought with what my taste buds told me was added salt. Mind you, the extra salt could have been from the bacon' or croutons. All in all, will not return. AND do my homework before going to the flea market to find another restaurant with PARKING.
Came to town to explore and have a Saturday morning breakfast. Great choice we made, service and the food were excellent. Clean and friendly.
Go for a drive to Lachute, Quebec, about km. NW of Montreal, and have a nice lunch at Olive Restaurant, on rue Principal. Tour this quaint old town, then head south to the vineyards and wineries of St. Eustache and St. Joseph area. And...don't forget to visit the apple orchard near St. Joseph du Lac (Les Vergers Lafrance) and savor their cider and ice wine. OLIVE RESTAURANT is our favorite resto, on the main street in downtown Lachute. The lunch specials fun and feature, for example, souvlaki platter, with the skewer of meat, soup, Greek salad, rice and fries, coffee or tea, and lemon or chocolate cake for dessert (a small piece, but delicious). Other World, Canadian, and Quebecois cuisine on the menu, and a bar if you want wine, beer or other.
