Restaurant bewertenRecommended by the lonely planet guide, desire to eat fish widely satisfied. great Canadian Chardonnay. be advised by the attentive, kind staff present. Enjoy!
This is a smallish retaurant reached by climbing a flight of stairs. It can get noisy with conversation. That said, the menu selections (accurately depicted on their website) included options such as elk stroganoff and arctic char. Everyone in my group enjoyed their well prepared selections. The wine list was sufficent but not extensive.
I had selected this restaurant form many I had looked through and I am glad I made a reservation. After a long drive from Banff, we were tired and showed up early. The hostess was tiring away couples who came without a reservation. The place is upstairs in downtown Jasper. The hostess was not friendly, although it was very busy. Our waitress was friendly helpful in giving us info to make choices for our food. My sister had a martini (Sid Sin City) and I had a chardonnay from Argentina that the waitress recommended and it was very good. We shared a Caesar salad and my sister had a fish special- the sable fish and I had the halibut. Both dishes were delicious, with veggies.I recommend this restaurant very highly.
For my birthday dinner my boyfriend and I decided to try Fiddle River as this restaurant combines a romantic atmosphere with a very good affordable food. Although there is no dress code required, we made this dinner a special occasion and dressed up a little bit. Our server (a blond lady with French accent, I didn´t catch the name, sorry) was just perfect! We never mentionned it was my birthday, but she must have figured that it was some kind of special day, because we were treated literally as a royal couple. All three courses we had were fantastic and so was the wine! We even got desserts on the house! We are still not sure by what we deserved the desserts, but this little gesture made the birthday occasion even more exceptional. Thank you!
Ate here during a overnight on the Rocky Mountaineer. An excellent meal with friendly staff. Would definitely eat here again if in the area. I had Halibut with a Parmesan crust which was very tasty. The Pear Cider was also a hit.
