Calanova - CAPOLIVERI

Amazing views and location but unfortunately the restaurant experience was very poor. A group of three families, kids ordered ‘crocchette di pesce and pollo’ (fish chicken nuggets , only 4 each and the chicken inside was raw... as a main course two of us took the ‘morone’ a white fish, one of them was still frozen inside (too fresh... , it was sent back but still showed for 25euros on the bill... the fritto misto (also 25 euros had less than five fried calamaries but a lot of chips and veggies... indifferent service. The ambitions of a Michelin-star restaurant with very tiny portions and high prices, but the quality of the food was a shame for the beauty of the spot and the reputation of Italian food.

Fantastic, almost Caribbean style beach. Not easily accessible so on an island where beaches tend to be crowded this is a gem as is the next beach along 100ms south over the headline of Istria). Access is from Caprilivera, first on a tarmac then dirt road down to the small parking area cost E6) behind the beach bar and Restaurant of Calanova. highly rated). Small bay shaded by trees, stones and peoples but beautiful and relatively uncrowned. . Istria next door has shaded and wooded idyllic glade behind. This is a Jimmy Buffet style location in the Med and on our visit was the haunt if one or two very large private cruise vessels.. If your a little adventurous, definitely worth a visit.l

A tourist trap. We have been at this place before, it was always too expensive but the food had been decent in the past few years and the location is nice. We ended up waiting 2 hours and receiving tiny portions we ordered 500 grams of fish each and received 100 max with a side of 3 tiny pieces of badly cooked tasteless vegetables. When we told the owner we had waited an unreasonable amount of time for bad food, she only replied that the fish takes time to cook and did not seem at all interested. We ended up paying 100 euros each ?!??? and going home to eat something because we were all still hungry. Terrible experience, we all felt completely cheated.

Location! indisputably fantasticaaa. excellent cuisine.. of real quality. wonderful staff...braviiiii. . . ?

Location with beach/sea view difficult to find elsewhere. quiet place. refined dishes but too expensive. excellently supplied wine cellar.
