Restaurant bewertenI used to be a big fan of Jake's. They had fresh-cut fries, real mashed potatoes, and top-notch ingredients. Now, they've switched to frozen fries and instant mashed potatoes, and a meal with a tip and drink costs $20. It's disappointing to see this change. Someone even had the audacity to claim that the food is better now. The chicken fried steak used to be great, but if they're now using frozen chicken, I can only imagine that the fried steak is next on the chopping block. I won't spend $20 to find out. I've visited when I was in the area and recommended it to others, but now I see they've taken down their Facebook page and aren't answering the phone, which suggests there are bigger issues at play.
Everything about this place was fantastic! From the service to the food, we were thoroughly impressed. The portions were generous, and our bartender was excellent.
The chicken in the quesadilla was well-seasoned, and the ribeye was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning and a wonderful garlic butter topping. I especially enjoyed the crispy, charred bits of fat on the steak. Now, about the salad—it was fantastic! I appreciate a salad that strikes a balance between sweet and savory, and this one had a delightful crunch. I would rate it a solid 10/10! It was not overly sweet, and the crumbled cheese and nuts added excellent texture and flavor. One minor issue was that my companion wished for a larger steak, while I wanted a bigger portion of my salad. It was probably ample size, but we do have hearty appetites! I believe the salad is seasonal, so be sure to order it while it’s available. There’s also an option with strawberries and blueberries that I hope will be added to the permanent menu. The service was excellent, and the restaurant has plenty of space, making it ideal for larger groups. I’ll include a menu for you to check out!
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and I'm glad I did! I had the chicken steak served with potatoes, green beans, and a refreshing drink. The portions were generous, and the service was both efficient and friendly. It truly felt like good old home-cooked fare. Don't let this hidden gem go unnoticed!
What makes a great Shrimp Po Boy? It’s all about the shrimp, sauce, and bread! In my opinion, Jake's nailed the shrimp, but the bread and sauce fell short. I really wish I had taken a photo of my untouched bread—it just didn’t do it for me. The highlight of the meal was definitely my wife's burger, and the onion rings were good too.
