Grom - ASTI

Interesting flavours and really good quality, grande size is 5.80 if I remember correctly. This is superb ice cream right in the square in Asti.

Not only are the artisanal gelati crafted here both delicious and seasonally appropriate according to what fruit is ripe but the location on the square is incredibly cheerful. Always ready to make an excuse to pass by :

Had a cone with lemon sherbet. To die for. Just wonderful, and not even that expensive. Well worth the small wait.

Grom makes it's icy concoctions with all natural ingredients and they are absolutely delicious. I've had gelato all over the world and all over Italy and this was some of the best. My favorite is still a little gelateria in Malmo, Sweden of all places but Grom is right up there. The gelato tends to be a little softer than traditional gelato and it's fascinating to see how the servers wind it on to a cone or into a serving dish. In spite of the softness, it doesn't seem to melt any quicker than other gelato so you have time to savor every bite. Grab a dish and enjoy some people-watching in the piazza.
