I never wrote before a review for a restaurant without trying their food as I find it incorrect...but the level of rudeness of the owner of this place was unbel... Weiterlesen I never wrote before a review for a restaurant without trying their food as I find it incorrect...but the level of rudeness of the owner of this place was unbelievable that I feel it needs to be mentioned...cause no matter how good the food may be, it is not a good business to me if the owners do not even try to be polite with their potential guests cause probably they have so many coming and going anyway... We asked for a table for dinner but we were told they were full and when we asked if we could make a reservation for later on (it was still early 8ish) they told us they do not take reservations and told us to try later on...fine (this is very common in many places in Civita)! We went for a walk, came back later...ask again and received the same answer. While we were about to leave, we noticed people waiting outside the yard and the owner started calling names from his notebook. He called something like 5 names and no one was there so he removed them from his list...at that point I went again to ask him (very politely) if I misunderstood as it seems like people made reservations...He got very nervous and answered in a very rude way that these reservations were made 10 days ago...and still politely I replied that regardless when they were made, he removed 5 bookings from his lists (meaning that there are 5 available tables or at list 5 bookings less in his list) and I ask if we could be added. And once again, he replied in an annoyed tone (as if you are not even allowed to ask) that there was no way we could make a reservation and send us off !!! It is such a shame that such an idyllic village as Civita may get ruined by people that became so arrogant because of the huge tourist flow...we were lucky to find nearby another restaurant Il Pozzo dei desideri with delicious food and very kind owner.

When our evening was getting a bit of a nightmare (it seems that most of the restaurants in Civita do not take reservations and on top of that some get quite rude too -maybe because they get so many tourists! , we luckily found Il Pozzo dei desideri. Despite the place was full, the kind owners prepare us a table on the side of the road overlooking the little square...perfect! we wouldnt have asked for a better quiet spot to enjoy the charm of the village! We ordered several dishes (umbrian home made pasta with truffle and local cheese, deer stew, ravioli with deer ragu, chicory as a side dish . Everything was delicious and nicely served. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. The price was also very reasonable being in a tourist place. We definitely recommend it! And I m Italian ;
