22.01.2024 - 13:22We had some time to kill between Genoa and Milan and poked around the countryside of Vercelli. We were a little disappointed by Vercelli itself, and on our way out, almost passed by this phenomenal restaurant. Luckily, one of us had to use a restroom, and came back out and waved the rest of us in. We were greeted by the owner, Alviso, and shown to a lovely table. The rest of the restaurant was filling in with locals. Alviso let us know that the mushrooms were remarkable, and had the kitchen whip us up sauteed wild mushrooms with garlic and onion, and it was heaven. Vercelli, being known for it 's rice, features risotto on every menu. This risotto we had was over the top. It was a mushroom and wild sausage risotto (I don 't like sausage so I picked it out and it was till sooooo flavorful! . We enjoyed it with a delicious local wine, Colline Novaresi Croatina . Do not miss this place while travelling through Italy!
