Weiterlesen I feel I need to start by explaining how I came to eat at Mythos ...when travelling, whether on business or pleasure, I’m a big believer in “eating local”, so when in Mexico, eat Mexican! And as someone who has travelled extensively in Greece and...lived there for 2 years, find that many Greek restaurants abroad, outside of areas with strong Greek communities, can often be disappointing. However, yesterday evening I didn’t want to eat very much; the couple of Mexican places I checked out did not look appealing at the time; Mythos had been recommended to me by a local colleague ...and I suddenly had a real yearning for kolokythokeftedes. So I checked out Mythos, which was buzzing and looked appealing with its outside terrace. On checking the menu ...lo behold: kolokythokeftedes, which are by no means on every menu even in Greece. The menu also promised louloudakia, even more rare to find. Sadly there were none left, or maybe it’s not the right season here in Mexico. So I had the kolokythokeftedes along with gyritos mini versions of the gyros pitta which is so ubiquitous in Greece. All I need to say is that I could easily have been eating in Greece, both dishes were totally authentic. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was really nice and the price, for 2 starters, a beer and a coffee was super reasonable. If I lived here and so was not looking to eat Mexican every night, I would certainly be a regular at Mythos. Why only 4 stars? Two reasons: while much Greek food is authentically served only warm, both these dishes (at least the kolokythokeftedes and the meat in the gyritos) should be piping hot and neither was as hot as it should be; secondly, no Greek beer. Doubly sad as Mythos is the name of one of the most popular beers in Greece. Fix these things and Mythos would definitely get 5 stars from me.
