Very good meal, enhanced by outstanding, attentive service from Joshan and his colleagues and especially by his well informed, cultured and thoughtful wine recommendations. An excellent meal. A far cry from the sister restaurant in Harrogate where we recently walked out without eating because of inattentive service. They could learn a lot from you!

My wife had the biggest lamb chop we have ever seen bigger than most T bone steaks and with an unexpected fried egg on top. Add a bottle of pleasant Alentejo wine, a plate of salad, bread with butter, sardine pate and cream cheese, and a large bowl of olives, for a total of £41.95. This place deserves a far better ranking!

Just a handful of options for starters, mains and desserts on our fixed-price, three-course menu, but all was tempting and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and elegantly served. I particularly enjoyed my truffled beef cheeks. A very pleasant restaurant.

Charming, friendly welcome and service. Perfect for a relaxed evening meal and a return for Sunday lunch. Try the delicious home-made desserts!Very well done to the young proprietor and his excellent colleague. Give them your support, they deserve to do very well.

Weiterlesen Something seems to have gone wrong. We have greatly enjoyed staying here before and dropping in for occasional lunches. We liked the good food and wine, and the exceptionally good service. The premises looked immaculate and smelt fresh. Back today, looking forward to a pleasant impromptu late lunch at about 1:30pm. People were eating but there were plenty of spare tables. We waited to be seated in the restaurant … and waited… and waited. After a while my wife reported to the hotel receptionists that there were similarities to the Marie Celeste. They said that someone would come. A few minutes later a barmaid arrived at the bar. We explained that we had been hoping for a lunch table but that there were no restaurant staff. She went to find them. But several minutes later she still had not returned. So we left. By that stage we had realised that things had changed at the Hotel du Vin. It no longer looks immaculate. We let the receptionists know that we had intended to have lunch, but had decided to leave. They didn’t seem bothered. This place used to have excellent management. It needs to get it back again.

Bread and mojo, fish fillets with salad simple but fresh and tasty. Half a litre of table wine. €18 total. The best value meal by far during our 3w stay on the island. Service not unctuous but perfectly OK. The waiter had a twinkle in his eye.
