They have a great patio with a terrific view of the ocean. Unfortunately we had a rainy and windy day but they had plenty of indoor space.

As other restaurants were closed or had very limited menus available for Halloween, we returned for dinner the following night. My husband had a burger, which was fine, and I had a cheese omelet, which was overpriced and a little tough. They took ages to arrive, and service was very slow. Unfortunately smoking is permitted throughout the restaurant, both inside and in the sheltered pavement area, and it seems that all the smokers in Velas congregate there. Unless you sit outside, upwind in a strong breeze, you're going to go home smelling like a chimney.

The fish is fresh the wine is good but you’re not in a part of the world with culinary creative chefs.

We read a lot of comments that the service is bad, that the prices are to high or the portions are to small... We made today a total different experience! The food, staff and prices are great!!! I ordered a dry aged rib eye steak for 22 Euro and it was absolutely delicious and minimum 400g heavy. At home in Germany you would have to pay for this quality at least twice as much and I mean at least... We visited some highly recommended steak houses on the Azores but this steak was the best so far on my trip. The other dishes were very delicious as well. E.g. please try the fish soup or the roasted sweet potatoes, they are very good. The 2 lady's from the staff who were taking care of us were absolutely great and attentive. Perfect service. Thank you very much for the great evening. We can definitely highly recommend this place!!!
