The staff at La Via Del Gelato was so friendly and generously offered free samples of their wonderful products. They had some very innovative and delicious flavors! They are proud of their products and the gelato is definitely homemade. You won't be disappointed.

This restaurant is on the main street in Erice. The interior strives to be elegant and pretty much succeeds. There was no one eating when we went for lunch, but by the time we left there were several tables filled. We had the anti-pasto buffet which was good, but a little odd because the waiter turned the lights off it and raised the table after I selected my food. The food was good, but not really special. I had the shrimp and they were large (as advertised) but enough overcooked, they were hard to remove from the shells. Not a bad place to have a bite.

We opted to order ala carte and were so glad we did. We had the feed lollipops (quail legs) which were coated in a spicy chili sauce. They were so delicious and totally melted off the bones. For the main we had the beef Wellington which did take a while for the main course to get to the table, but was not perfectly cooked and so delicious. It was worth the wait! We had a delicious bottle of Malbec which paired so well with dinner. We opted for dessert drinks and were pleased!

The location is a tad difficult to find but don’t give up! The menu is limited but has a vegetarian-able to be be vegan option. We ordered the rib eye and the venison options. The starters were an amazing smoked salmon and what is described as a crunchy shrimp salad. The shrimp isn’t crunchy but the salad is. Both starters hit on all levels from a beautiful presentation to a wonderful taste with great texture. The venison will be one of the dishes we crave in the future and the ribeye, while cut in half was perfectly cooked to the right temperature. Dessert was also good. One was a coffee (mocha) creme brûlée and the other a chocolate cake with ice cream and peaches. The tartness of the peaches was the only miss in my opinion. The wine and aperitifs were spot on. Service was the right speed for us, but maybe a little slow for others. The prices were spot on in a high priced city. Highly recommend you try this place!
