This is not a tourist-focussed restaurant but nonetheless they went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. The food was very good, the location pleasant and well worth a visit. It might be a cliché to call it a hidden gem but it is a pretty good description.

Weiterlesen Perhaps I am biased and this restaurant is a joy in the evening but I have had lunch there on two occasions and the place has been awash with senior citizens coming on coaches for a cheap meal. Such company emphasises the gloomy decor and the experience is topped off by a serving of what looks like cold spam fritters as part of the antipasti. Still, the prices are OK, the food moderate and the service reasonably friendly (with an english speaking waiter) so my aim is not to condemn the place. However, its not a place which brings a lot of joy!

I just ate the salad which was plain lettuce leaves. Dont go!

It takes a long time to get served. Could mean they're taking their time making it fresh and good for you. Once in a while, the wait staff takes your order, ser... Once in a while, the wait staff takes your order, serves you then you never see them again. So, if you need anything you have to get up and ask for it. The taste is great though. If you go with great company, like I did this time, it passes the time nicely.

Having breakfast with brioches and croissants from the Palme d'Or reconciles you with the universe. The patisserie, self-produced, is of a good that cannot be explained, you have to go and try it, without hesitation and I swear that the gustatory experience will pay off. But every glittering medal has its own small flaw ... the staff! Except for the owner at the cashier who, after all, carries out her business with cordiality, the same cannot be said of the other operators. They are always in trouble even if at that moment there are only 3 people to serve, they try each other again in front of the customers, they are always angry and ill-disposed, so much so that sometimes, if for example they have not given us a glass of water with coffee, because taken from who knows what race, we don't even ask for it for fear of receiving annoyed answers or, like last time, a cup of coffee waiting for more than 10 minutes served with annoyance, so much so that they half poured into the saucer. In fact, it has happened several times that I have proposed to go there for breakfast anyway, ignoring the usual rude service in favor of the excellent pastries and those who accompanied me refused because they considered the problem of service, whether at the counter or at the table, to be insurmountable. . It is a great regret that such a beautiful and indisputably good bar is supported by such rude and inhospitable people. To mention another event, one morning there were two of us inside and behind the counter there was the usual unmotivated tumult, since there were not so many people yet, we had to ask for a brioche 3 times because the 4 operators, were all and 4 focused on the arrival of a lady, probably a regular customer whose tastes they already knew, and even before she arrived, they were starting to prepare everything (I repeat 4 for one person not even present yet) totally ignoring us who were already there, alone, waiting for a croissant and coffee for over 5 minutes. It seemed so surreal to us that we have not actually returned since that day for how much I love their pastry very much, I repeat. (Original) Questo è un bar storico della città per il quale spenderò più di qualche parola perché ha un potenziale enorme, non solo per l'eccellente posizione in pieno centro, con la possibilità di potersi accomodare anche fuori in un grazioso angolo coperto da ombelloni e belle siepi ma per l'indiscutibile qualità e bontà dei prodotti proposti. Fare colazione con le brioches e i cornetti della Palma d'oro ti riconcilia con l'universo. La pasticceria, autoprodotta è di un buono che non si può spiegare, bisogna andare e provarlo, senza esitazioni e giuro che l'esperienza gustativa ripagherá. Ma ogni scintillante medaglia ha il suo seppur piccolo difetto...il personale! Eccetto la proprietaria alla cassa che tutto sommato svolge la sua attività con cordialità, lo stesso non si può dire degli altri operatori. Sono sempre in affanno anche se magari in quel momento ci sono solo 3 persone da servire, si riproverano tra loro davanti alla clientela, sono sempre stizziti e mal disposti, tanto che alle volte, se per esempio non ci hanno dato il bicchiere di acqua col caffè, perché presi da chissà quale corsa, nemmeno glielo chiediamo per paura di ricevere risposte infastidite o, come l'ultima volta, una tazzina di caffè attesa per più di 10 minuti servita con indisponenza, tanto da esse per metà riversata nel piattino. Infatti, è più volte capitato che io abbia proposto di andare ugualmente lì per fare colazione, ignorando l'abituale scortese servizio in favore delle eccellenti paste e chi mi accompagnava si sia rifiutato perché riteneva insormontabile il problema del servizio che sia al bancone o al tavolo. È un gran dispiacere che un bar così bello e indiscutibilmente buono, sia sostenuto da persone tanto sgarbate e inospitali. Per citare un altro evento, una mattina eravamo dentro in due e dietro il bancone c'era il solito immotivato tumulto, visto che non c'era ancora tanta gente, abbiamo dovuto chiedere per 3 volte una brioche perché i 4 operatori, erano tutti e 4 concentrati sull'arrivo di una signora, probabilmente una cliente fissa di cui conoscevano già i gusti, e ancor prima che arrivasse, stavano iniziando a predisporre tutto (ripeto ben in 4 per una sola persona nemmeno ancora presente) ignorando totalmente noi che eravamo già lì, soli, in attesa di cornetto e caffè da oltre 5 minuti. Ci è sembrato talmente surreale che effettivamente da quel giorno non siamo più tornati per quanto io ami molto, ripeto, la loro pasticceria.
