15.01.2024 - 08:43So I am a breakfast fan. I like my eggs and pancakes and other breakfast foods and I am particular about what I get. Alana’s has an absolutely beautiful setting. It’s like a little cottage house and tables outside are set in a garden-like atmosphere. It’s almost like a little picnic among the trees. It is very beautiful on a nice summer day. The food, though, was just okay to me. I guess I didn’t get anything that really stood out compared to other breakfast places. The potatoes were good, the coffee cake was good, but neither of them knocked my socks off. I guess what they do have is a great scrambled egg menu with very different mix-ins that I haven’t seen. It was hard choosing which mix-in I wanted. But again, nothing spectacular about it when the dish came… So come for the setting and enjoy your company. But don’t expect anything to write home about.

30.09.2023 - 06:38Wynkoop is spread out in a spacious building which makes it a good option for an indecisive bunch. On the main floor, there’s a normal sit-down indoor restaurant area, a walk-up bar area, and there’s two separate outdoor eating areas. Upstairs is a pool hall, with darts and shuffleboard and another bar. We decided to take advantage of the temperate summer night that was not too cool and sit on one of the outside patios. It turned out to be a good people watching spot as the neighborhood is full of bars and restaurants and people walking from one to another. As it is a brewery, we decided to get their sampler of 11 different brews. My favorite was the seasonal summer ale – a little citrus flavor, but still crisp…sorta like a Blue Moon with a slice of orange. Bonus for the seasonal — it had the highest alcohol content at 6.2%. The light ale received positive reviews too (we liked it better than their most popular ale) but the fun part was sampling them all. Just stay away from Patty’s Chili Beer….yuck! Food-wise, I was pleasantly surprised. Being in landlocked Denver, we had pretty good mussels for an appetizer. But the fun part is after the nice meal in a pleasant setting, we just had to roll on upstairs to have a fun evening shooting some pool. So if you need something to eat and something to do, Wynkoop is the place!

30.08.2023 - 10:29Tucked away from the wind and fog in Tiburon is Sam’s Cafe. With a huge patio that becomes almost standing room only during the summer, Sam’s serves up really great Bloody Mary’s, Electric Lemonades, and seafood. But more importantly, you get to soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful scenery (nature as well as people!

06.08.2023 - 05:47So I’m not a big Santana Row fan (too pretentious , but we did have a great weekend brunch at this place. There’s a nice ambiance to it, but I liked sitting outside on their patio area (with heaters! . We had a large group and they were pretty patient with us, but it was the food and drinks that made it great!

06.08.2023 - 04:39Located in San Jose’s Japantown, Sushi Maru is a great place for lunch and dinner. They always have a daily special that is both tasty and decently priced. Their lunch bentos with selectable dishes is also a great deal. There is not too much seating at this place, so you probably won’t want to go there with more than 4-6 people.

05.08.2023 - 12:07I know Pasta Pomodoro is a chain and everything, but it’s a great restaurant to go to for non-special occasions…some good inexpensive pasta dishes for under $10. I actually prefer this to Pasta? in Mtn View/PA. Nice, yet casual…

01.08.2023 - 14:38So this was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to my apartment. I went there 2-3 times, mostly because it was so close. But the food is nothing to write home about. The actual restaurant is very nicely done…the decor is clean, modern; the staff is friendly. Unfortunately the food does not measure up.

01.08.2023 - 10:09While this place gets super crowded and almost impossible to go to on a weekend night, you can make reservations for larger groups (especially if it’s a weeknight). But we keep heading back here for birthdays! Why? Cuz it’s a fun place to be with wild and crazy friends AND an awesome selection of beer. You can get the beers by the pint, by the “boot”, or even by this huge jug that must be about a gallon. Fun times, friends, good food, and alcohol…. a perfect mix!

01.08.2023 - 07:31So we got home from a night football game, starving… After getting off the 1-Muni, we went to look for a place to eat dinner at 9:30pm. We didn’t have to go far! Sushi Rock is open til 12:30am on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was decent, although, I didn’t particularly like their Sake (smoked salmon) – a little too salty. I didn’t try any of the rolls, but they looked good. There are a few originals…like a mango tuna roll. I’ll have to go back and try some of those. But the “rock box” was a lot of food and a good price and I was very hungry. Another bonus – large sake collection and 3 drinks for the price of 2 after 10pm!

29.07.2023 - 21:00While not my all-time fave, this is close to my apartment and a good place to go for a casual meal. I also order their food from delivery.com. They are usually prompt and the food is not cold. The actual restaurant is on the corner of Broadway and Polk across the street from Rouge. It’s a nice, clean casual place to eat. Some dishes are better than others…
