Food was okay, rather expensive for what was served but its a small village pub. The place has aspirations but the chef won't deliver, but he or she tries. Got horrendously noisy at about 9pm when the locals arrived with children and domino games. Probably okay for a quick bite after a cycle or walk but don't go out of your way if you want good food and some quiet ambiance. It caters for locals which you can't blame them for, but there are better closer by.

Weiterlesen Half way round our walk of the Cleveland Way, we stopped at Skinningrove and came upon the Riverside Centre. We were made very welcome and ordered two cups of coffee. The lady brought these to us together with a plate of biscuits. We had a nice chat and they told us about there centre. There was a book swap area, and even though I didn't have a book to swap, they let me take a book. The premises were clean and tidy, its just a shame they have to fund themselves. Such community places should be given some sort of funding. Will definitely call again when in the area.

This establishment is by far the best I have been to for a bacon sandwich and coffee. The bacon was good quality and well cooked and the bun was of good quality also. The coffee hot and drinkable. All in all I will return.

Weiterlesen Albert’s became a family favourite after our last visit in 2021 a fantastic location offering a wonderful choice of seafood, served professionally and with a touch of sophistication. In 2023 we had family from USA and Australia visiting, so on a trip to Whitby we booked Albert’s as a way of showcasing the ‘Best of British’ unfortunately in the intervening period, the standard has dropped significantly. Menu choices were limited (the seafood platters we were expecting weren’t available) and whilst the service was friendly, it felt overall like we were eating at a slightly upmarket cafe such a waste of the wonderful location. Hopefully the people running Albert’s can recruit well and get the kitchen back to where it used to be, and a bit of training for front of house to bring back the special feel that it we experienced on our earlier visit.
