13.12.2025 - 15:42The first time we ate here a year or two ago we were put off by the huffy hostess who seemed desperate to show she was better than the staff. Because of this we didn’t return for quite a while, which is a shame as the food is very good. This last visit on a Sunday afternoon (when most restaurants seem to be closed) was fortunately much more pleasant and we all agreed that it is a very good place to go to.Our salads were delicious as were the main courses. Service on this Sunday was attentive and friendly and we really had nothing to grumble about. Even if the food wasn’t so good, it is worth stopping there to enjoy the panoramic view of the Säntis mountain area and the other side, reaching over to Zurich. There is a lovely garden bar/lounge area which in warm months is the place to enjoy a drink.

14.11.2025 - 01:54The restaurant is in a prime location to serve guests from the Kreuzlingen harbor. As it was still full at the end of the lunch time, we took a small table away from the terrace, right next to the lake. We had to ask the waitress to clean the table as the previous guests had left it messy. Service that day was somewhat slow. We ordered a salad plate and “egli” fish filets. Both were very good but the fish cost CHF 45.00, which is really too much (but it didn’t keep us from ordering it… . Furthermore the prices on the lunch menu were not the ones on our bill (evidently the computer doesn’t realize this so we complained about this. The waitress was polite and reduced the total fee appropriately.

28.08.2024 - 08:34The unseemly exterior of this tiny Thai restaurant, which is tucked away on a side street near the Goldach train station, belies the bold flavors that come out of the kitchen. Dishes are cooked freshly to order, and you’ll get a little appetizer to keep your hunger pains at bay.The service personnel seem genuinely happy to serve you, and thoughtfully, you are given a steaming hot cloth for wiping your hands after your meal. The dishes are reasonably priced and there is a great variety of options. It might be best to order a beer or soft drink as the wine list is not particularly impressive. Furthermore, the waiting time on a busy night can be quite long – at our last visit it lasted an hour until we got our meal, as many guests had turned up at the same time – but if you are willing to risk a wait, a delicious meal will be your reward.Parking tip – there are only a few spots behind the restaurant, so if it’s in the evening, park in the large nearby Landi lot and walk down the few steps to the restaurant.

22.05.2024 - 01:40We happened across Restaurant Kalikutt in the middle of a long hike through a part of Germany’s Black Forest. What a welcome surprise! The restaurant and hotel are in a lovely setting practically alone with a scenic view of the local hills. There are tables outside next to a fountain and if the weather permits, it’s surely the nicest place to have a meal or snack. We ordered salad which was fresh and tasty, and since calories were of no concern that day, we treated ourselves to a few pieces of cake from the restaurant’s super selection. The Black Forest Cherry cake looked divine and they say it’s made from their own special recipe. The service was friendly and we felt very comfortable listening to the water fountain, looking over the hills, and enjoying the freshly made food. Perfect for a mid-hike break.

17.05.2024 - 09:17The Münsterhof is a relatively unassuming restaurant situated next to, what else, Konstanz’s cathedral. In the summer there are a lot of tables outside where you can eat, however as it was so hot on our visit, we chose to sit inside. The décor of the room is nothing special and gazing at the menu, we were afraid we had made a bad choice, as the dishes listed were pretty standard. Service was friendly but also a bit slow although the lunch rush was already over with. We ordered Wiener Schnitzel with salad, and the frankfurters with lentils and a salad. Both dishes were really good; attractively plated, freshly cooked and well-seasoned. We were pleasantly surprised. As we swapped salad for the starch side dish that normally would come with the food, we had to pay an extra €1.50 each. They have a menu in English if you ask for one.

26.02.2024 - 16:32This is a pleasant if not so spectacular tapas restaurant where we had lunch twice. Once the waiter warmed up to us (especially to one of the women in our group who is particularly attractive), service was good and we enjoyed a variety of tapas at our outside table. The restaurant single toilet is however not really to be recommended, being filled with cases of bottles and other goods which have nothing to do with the room’s original function.

12.02.2024 - 16:10Amble is quite a touristy area and as the other tearooms/cafés were filled, we stopped for a scone and tea at the Harbour Guest House. Several familes and couples were enjoying their Sunday roasts and I noticed that the menu has various sizes of the Sunday meal so that you can order the amount that you want and only have to pay for that amount. Our scones were good and the waitress pleasant. The restrooms are located outside at the back of the building so you have to, depending on the weather, bundle up before heading there.
