13.01.2023 - 13:53We had brought my mother-in-law here for an afternoon tea which was lovely and found the location and ambiance of the venue really pleasing, so I booked Bartley Lodge for my wife 's 60th birthday meal and also ordered a celebration birthday cake. We arrived on 18th May and when looking through the menu we were disappointed with the limited choice of dishes available, also that there was only one sauce which accompanied the steak dish, a peppercorn sauce, which I am unable to eat. When I asked the waiter if the chef could make a bearniase sauce I was informed that there was no tarragon left as it had all been used with the chicken dish. The waiter said that the chef could make three alternatives, which included a shallot, brandy and cream sauce, which I ordered. My wife ordered the chicken ballontine dish and asked the waiter what vegetables were served with that, he said that he did not know and went to the kitchen to ask, he returned with the answer seasonal vegetables so we were still not sure what was going to be served. The plates of food arrived and we proceeded to eat our meals, only to find that on my wife 's plate there was a two inch circular piece of cling film which was the twisted end used to make the ballontine roll, also her leeks were dirty and had obviously not been washed prior to cooking. When we had finished the waiter was made aware of the issues and took our plates away, returning and telling us that he was sorry and had taken it off the bill. The birthday cake arrived which was lovely and exactly as I had ordered. On finishing the meal we were told to go to reception to pay. The receptionist charged us for the cake £25, the steak meal £32, the bearnaise sauce £3 which should have been an alternative as I did not have the peppercorn sauce, finally and alarmingly, were charged a service charge £3.50 which was quite insulting after the service we received. All the above spoilt the whole celebratory evening for my wife and I.

21.12.2022 - 18:21Genaro and Sara are great hosts my son's most favourite place to eat. I love it too. The wood fired pizza is out of this world. The antipasti is my favoutite although I have to be sure to be really hungry. I can't wait for you to be open again!

14.12.2022 - 17:26I love the ethos of bean bites that fight for a sustainable environment, the personal is very nice and always ready to help. her coffee is the best in dorset hands down, I would recommend to anyone to try the flat white with a lemon drizzle pie mmmmmmmm. Go on!

22.11.2022 - 20:59Always an excellent curry. no matter what sort we choose! they love the fact that they supplement or remove with certain ingredients. beautiful that there is also an open kitchen, so no hiding! good fast delivery, but when busy are always in advance about the delay and time to expect it! wont order indian from anywhere else end

22.11.2022 - 18:29One of the friendliest staff I've ever seen. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Food was tasty and it came fast. Prices are more than reasonable and also the restaurant is very clean! I'll definitely come back to try more dishes. I literally have nothing bad to say about this place
