Weiterlesen Another typical Lyon bouchon. The food was good traditional fare but nothing outstanding. We had starters of Cottage Cheese with Duck Breast Artichoke with Foie Gras which were both OK. Mains of Quenelle with Crayfish Sauce and Quenelle with Mushroom Sauce were both very good and the Mango and Pineapple Panacotta to finish was also very good. With a couple of drinks the final bill came to 82 euros or around £71 so not too expensive. A traditional bouchon will always give you a good meal but don't expect for it to linger longer.

We had the Eggs in Red Wine with Bacon and Onions (Oeufs en Meurette the Pate en Croute to start. The former wasn't my cup of tea but the latter was tasty. For mains we had the classic Quenellle in Crayfish Sauce which was excellent and another Lyonnaise classic, Veal in Vinegar Sauce, which again was not to my taste. Puds of Rhum Baba (how big? Tarte Tatin with Pralines were both very sweet but a reasonable end to the meal. With a couple of beverages, the final cost was 92 euros or around £80 so not cheap. The overall impression was mixed but largely because I ws not keen on a couple of the Lyonnaise classics we tried. My main criticism is that with the mains they served saute potatoes and macaroni cheese. That's stodge squared! Have they not heard of a nice green vegetable? Needless to say we left most of it.
