Weiterlesen Früher war das Abaton Bistro ein runtergekommenes Studenten-Bistro. Seit ca. 25 Jahren ist es ein elegantes Bistro und Restaurant mit mehr Anspruch. Die alten Wurzeln lassen sich vielleicht noch an dem Pizza-Angebot erkennen. Dazu gibt es leckere kleine und größere Speisen, gerne saisonal und regional. Der Service ist aufmerksam und schnell. Die Preise sind fair, wenn auch für arme Studenten nicht mehr ganz passend. Dafür ideal, um vor oder nach dem Kino noch etwas zu essen oder zu trinken.

So I was hopeful. The hostess practically...ran up the stairs to the third floor, to show us to our table as if it was a race for her to return to the first floor! She did the same for every party that night. The server was very charming. Perfectly bilingual. But it was hard to hear him since the dining room was so noisy. The dining room was nice, with exposed beams and brick. It was easy to order and the food arrived fairly quickly. But since we ordered off the table d’hôte, maybe the food was already prepared. I say this since the soup was lukewarm. The steak frites was cold. The veggies in the side were tasteless. The best part of the meal was dessert but everything that was only passable. The managers (and there appeared to be as many managers as there were servers ! did not look like they cared to check in on the diners, just there to move us out for the next sitting. It is too bad since this was an opportunity to make us like it and want to return. What a bad impression this place made. Overall not a memorable night. I wished that I had booked at another (slightly more expensive steakhouse.

This is our go-to spot for a reasonably priced, delicious meal, especially with a large group. And they take reservations, a requirement on busy VT weekends.
