Restaurant bewertenBright and spacious small restaurant with some very interesting, disturbing artworks to discuss while they have breakfast. service was great and they get free parking when they eat in the restaurant. the menu was charming and let us return to lunch in the future. coffee and a lot of tees available. prices reasonable. the breakfast sandwich both the classic and the veggie were amazing. English muffins with an egg and a delicious selection of toppings. they were delicious. the pause fast was also great a whole weizen tortilla to fabulous houseries, touches, mushrooms, cheese, green planks and chipotle aioli rolled.
Very nicely decorated clean place, the menu is varied, not only the usual burgerfries. quality fresh ingredients are very obviously very well prepared. the prices can be a little much for a university, but they get what they pay.
We stopped at elements as part of a west end biz wall tour. love the atmosphere. had made it out of scratch ginger-ale. delicious.
I have worked on the university and decided to try it out because it is located in one of the buildings of the university winnipeg. I sat fast. menu has very interesting things make it hard to decide what to have. I wish. I could go back to try more dinge. my server was polite and friendly. they have messed up on my side suppe when I had ordered another, but it wasn't a big thing because it was hard to decide what I wanted. the prices are not too bad, above average, but it is worth eating as it is really good.
The kitchen is very good and works with a straightforward menu that is long on fresh, careful preparations, and short on fancy and expensive. Good, well prepared food at a fair price in a great atmosphere. I visited with three other people who were already...familiar with Elements. When I asked what was good on the menu they basically advised that everything was good. No risks. It was a Sunday brunch, so we settled on pancakes, bacon eggs, eggs benedict and one of the Bowls. Elements is located at an urban university so a selection of bowls absolutely has to exist on the menu. The breakfast fare was all very good. Light, fluffy pancakes, perfectly done, a good selection of syrups and fruit toppings. Delicious local bacon. The bibimbap rice bowl (with diced chicken) was delightful and redolent of its basmati rice, spicy miso sauce and sesame seeds among other good things. All fresh, all bright, all nicely presented. The table across the aisle from us went for mainly lunch items that included club sandwiches from fresh ingredients prepared at Elements all on crusty local bread that smelled so good when it was brought to the table that I nearly changed my own order. Glad I didn't though because the fresh, local organic eggs I did have were a delicious treat fluffy, scrambled and yummy. Restaurants like Elements survive on freshness, fast, accurate preparation, and absolutely rock steady consistency. Frankly too, that sort of standard is pervasive throughout Winnipeg restaurants. To succeed in the restaurant business in Winnipeg in the first place, you've just got to be better and more consistent than similar restaurants in many other cities. As the University of Winnipeg continues to expand, it is making space for deeper incursions into its edges that meet the surround neighbourhoods. Most of the window frontage of Elements, located at 599 Portage Ave. on the main floor front of the newest building on the U of W campus, has a view of busy Portage Avenue. At any given time of day or evening the restaurant will be filled with U of W students or local business people or couples from other parts of the city or visitors to Winnipeg or professors and teaching assistants, and so on. The atmosphere is energetic and a bit eclectic, but there's no loud music in the background so you can carry on conversations and relax. Elements also has a sit down bar that is quite extensive, but we did not check it out at all. Fair prices at Elements it's located in the midst of a large, urban university after all also means the place is quite often very busy. So pick your visit times if you live in Winnipeg, and you're a visitor to the city make sure you phone the restaurant first before heading over there. Normal restaurant hours Monday to Friday; brunch hours only on Saturday and Sunday.
