Restaurant bewertenWe ordered take-out from The Scotch Bonnet Kitchen last night, marking our first experience with this restaurant. It's challenging to write a review after trying just one dish, but I must say the oxtail stew we had was excellent. While it was priced a bit higher than other Jamaican and Creole restaurants in the area, our overall impression was quite positive. A key aspect of oxtail is the balance between meat and side dishes, and The Scotch Bonnet Kitchen definitely delivered on generous portions of meat. The variety of sides was impressive as well, and the food was deliciously prepared. Despite the restaurant being a bit far from us (Ewing to Mercerville), the food arrived hot and well-packaged with no spills. We will certainly be ordering from The Scotch Bonnet Kitchen again.
I've generally had good experiences every time I've ordered from this restaurant. The food and service have consistently been satisfactory. However, during my last visit, I ordered curry goat and encountered a dangerously sharp bone in my dish. It was so pointed that it could have seriously harmed the roof of my mouth if I hadn't caught it in time. I know that goat can come with bones, but there must be a better method to ensure that sharp pieces aren't included in the food. It was quite an unpleasant experience, so I recommend exercising caution. On a positive note, the flavors were delicious. Unfortunately, the veggie patties didn’t fare well; they had a rather off-putting aftertaste, which my friend also noticed. Given the potential risks depending on what you order, I'm giving it 4 stars. I would still recommend the restaurant and plan to return, but just be mindful.
We visit this restaurant frequently, so it’s disappointing that this recent experience has left us so frustrated. We ordered the oxtail platters—one small for me and one large for my husband. To our surprise, we both received four oxtails each. The only difference between the two platters (aside from the $5 price difference) was that his had more rice and cabbage. I called to inquire about this issue and was offered just one extra oxtail if I returned to pick it up. While the food is delicious, the portion sizes for the price are simply unacceptable.
Yum-azing! The Scotch Bonnet Kitchen within the Galleria Mall in White Plains, NY was an unexpectedly delicious find! Tried the curry chicken, rice and beans, cabbage and carrots with a delicious sauce. All very affordably priced and carefully and proudly plated and served with the most friendly smile I?ve seen in a long while! I highly recommend and look forward to coming back next time I?m in town!
Go elsewhere for you hard earned dollar. Food is just ok. But the prices and portion sizes are ridiculous. You can get better and more food for a cheaper price at other nearby Jamaican restaurants. Pulse they?re rude. When you walk into the restaurant they act like you?re a bother to them.
