Restaurant bewertenWe visited this restaurant with ten friends on the last night of our vacation in a nearby villa. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, they were very patient and very friendly. None of us could really make our minds up about what we wanted so they suggested that they just bring us all the things we'd mention which was absolutely fine with us. The first course was buratta cheese, meats, tomatoes, and olives and more which was wonderful. Then we had three different pasta dishes which again were all very fast and perfectly cooked. Then we had salad and florentine steaks which were out of this world. All the wine we had throughout the meal was perfect for what we were eating. This was a busy, noisy meal with lots going on all the time, and at times it was crazy, but it was fantastic fun. All the staff were joining in and we all had a wonderful time. The icing on the cake was that when the bill came the price was amazingly reasonable. If you are ever anywhere near Donato e Donata you must go or you will be missing out on a real Italian experience.
Very fun, friendly, casual local place. Great meats grilled outdoors. Really great food and the prices on the wines were very close to retail. No problem for gluten-free. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great. If you had a family this would be a great place to go. If not, still great.
I've been coming here since 2007 as I live close by. By Tuscan standards, the food is always excellent though I have noticed a greater attention to innovation and seasonal diversity in the last few years. Grill Night is the best time to come. I love their pasta with porcini mushrooms when in season. The owners are wonderful people. My favorite reasonably priced restaurant in the province of Siena ensconced in the beautiful Montagnola woods!
