Restaurant bewertenI wanted to love this place, but I didn't.It's possibly because I was holding it to an impossible standard of my favorite poke place on the islands...Umeke's!Their poke felt heavy and not refreshing. But service was courteous so they definitely had that going for them. They usually have lines out the door... so maybe this was just a bad day...
Great restaurant for fresh poke! My wife and I always order a poke plate, add slices of sesame leaves, sesame oil, and extra rice to make a bibimbap out of it. We love it!
Lines out the door during peak hours says it all. This is not the place for you if you like your poke bowl filled to the rim with various toppings and sauces. The poke bowl here is just fresh fish and rice so you can actually taste the freshness. It is also the place with the best poke nachos in town.
This place has the best poke bowl and the taste is closest to what I had in Hawaii. I normally get the poke plate with half rice half salad, and the poke’s portion is satisfying! Their new location is newer, brighter and looks a lot nicer than the previous spot.
I'm going to keep this simple. This is the best poke place in San Diego hands down, no questions asked. The tuna melts in your mouth with a exquisite texture like no other, and the salmon has a brilliant sweet-ish umami flavor that I haven't had anywhere else. Would recommend to anyone who eats fish (or doesn't, it could definitely change their minds!)Vegetarian options: Definitely not vegetarian lmao, this is the MEATS. You could ask for maybe a nori and seaweed salad with some sauce but I cannot say for sure if the dressings and condiments are vegan/vegetarian.
