Restaurant bewertenThere's so much negative press about Iran these days that it was a real treat to visit this restaurant and enjoy wonderful, exotic food in a lovely, middle Eastern decor. The service is excellent and friendly.
Very tasteful food, great safran rice, several meal choices well explained by the servers, warm service, beautiful decors. «bring your own wine» appreciated ,excellent deserts.
Perhaps thirty or so years ago this restaurant would have been average, but the Iranian community in Canada is now large enough that this restaurant 's food should taste a little more authentic. I went over a year ago, but have asked other Iranians who had been there recently if the food has improved and it appears the recipes have remained the same. This is a bland version of Iranian cooking and doesn 't do the cuisine justice. I would be really hesitant to bring Iranian family to Persepolis. It has pretty good atmosphere and the dishes are presented nicely, but the taste seems to be tailored to non Iranians (a hint is that the European Persian word is being used, as opposed to Iranian , which is strangely enough used in Iran). I grew up on Iranian food cooked by an Iranian mother, grandmother, aunts and extended relatives Persepolis does not come close. If you want real Iranian food, go to Montreal or Toronto for the real tastes of Iran. For example, Tehran Restaurant in Montreal is where all the Iranian Atlas cab drivers used to go, and last check their food was delicious! If you are afraid of foreign foods, but like the fantasy orientalist atmosphere, this is the right place for you (and I mean that sincerely).
We chose Persepolis based on the reviews and it was great, from entry to the delicious Iranian ice cream baklava! We’ll return for sure..
Atmosphere: Clean, colorful restaurant that plays calm Persian music. Service: Our waitress helped us to understand each of the dishes and their ingredients Food: Everything we put in our mouths was mouth-wateringly good, especially the saffron rice and the saffron/rose water ice cream.
