Restaurant bewertenWe had high expectations going in as we saw the TripAdvisor ratings and reviews. The location was very nice, lovely old house renovated to an intimate dining location. It started with the bread, I know something small but the rolls looks like they were pre-packaged and the butter came in a little plastic packet. To us, this started what felt like a lack of finesse and attention to detail. It takes maybe 1 minute to put the butter in a dish or some flair of presentation, instead we got what you might expect from a fast food restaurant. The specials (of which there were many and it took the waitress way too long to enumerate) would have been better printed out or on an iPad even so you could properly understand and think about what you wanted. If you have over 3 specials the poor waitress has to memorize and orate, go ahead and write them down for your guests trying to decide. Lastly, both my partner and I did end up choosing a special each and the presentation was very lackluster. The bland starch with the bland protein with the sauce slopped on top. No flair, no plating, no finesse one would expect at these prices. The location was nice, the waitress clearly had a photographic memory to recall the plethora of specials, all their accoutrements and prices, but overall we were very disappointed by a meal we could have improved on making it at home.
The terrace and place itself are lovely. But when it comes to the food, it was less than enjoyable, and unfortunately, so was the service. For a table d'hôte, there was no coffee or dessert included, only a salad/pineapple gazpacho to choose from, which were just ok. The bread was optional as we were asked whether we wanted it or not. And as for the main, I ordered the Thaï salad with grilled bavette (medium rare), except part of the beef was completely raw! When I informed the waitress, she asked me to take out the pieces to bring back to the kitchen, only to bring the same pieces back completely charred! It was embarrassing and somewhat insulting to have this brought over to the table. Had I not been on an important dinner, I would not have accepted this! Also, I would have taken before/after pictures to share. There was a large group of people at the restaurant, which took away all of the servers' attention! I understand that it can get busy and that mistakes happen. But what was hard to digest about this place besides the meat was to be entirely unapologetic for their mistake and our less than enjoyable experience. I had wanted to try this place for a long time, but sadly, I left with a very bitter taste in my mouth. Literally. Very pricey for what it was!
We ate outside on the patio and had a lovely time. My husband had Mussels and I had Cod. Both were delicious and presented nicely. Service was good and the owner came by and told us some about the town. Since it was our first time in the village we appreciated the info.
I have been 3 times at Resto Pub Bord'Eaux and unfortunately my experience lets me feeling that they are not a family friendly restaurant. The food is tasty and fairly priced but they made us feel uncomfortable for having our kids with us even when we made our reservation.
From other descriptions we expected more of a pub dining experience, but were happy to find a relaxed atmosphere with a more elevated menu. But you can still get what looks to be a nice burger or chicken tenders with a maple mustard sauce. We chose Ceasar salad, which had bacon and capers (nice touch! . Duck confit with fries was well cooked and not greasy. Crab cakes were tasty but nothing special. However, the special strawberry rhubarb gazpacho was a highlight! Perfect balance of sweet and acidic flavors. We also had the special grilled shrimp and scallops in a coconut milk, ginger and basil sauce over rice, which was wonderful. We sat on outdoor seating which had a lovely cozy feel with views of people strolling and the water. All spaces were clean, including the restrooms. Highly recommend!
