Restaurant bewertenSince my last visit, Prime Time Café closed its doors in December 2016 and remained closed until June 2017, when it reopened under new management. The new owners decided to offer something unique to the food scene in Prince Rupert, moving away from the typical pizza, Asian cuisine, and seafood options. Their goal was to provide a "taste of home away from home," as stated on their Facebook page. The focus shifted towards traditional and modern Aboriginal dishes, including Jubilee Hall Soup, Fried Bread, Dungeness Crab, and various fish dishes.
The Prime Time Cafe in West End fails to impress with its lackluster and uninspired Chinese cuisine. The small, cozy eatery offers a mishmash of menu items, from cookies to sushi, but none of them seem to have any flavor. The interior and exterior of the restaurant have a charming, mom-and-pop feel, but the food leaves much to be desired. The lunch special that I tried, chow mein and chicken wings, was plain and greasy, lacking any taste. The owner, a friendly man running the place single-handedly, may be nice, but that does not make up for the subpar food quality. With new ownership in the past year, the Prime Time Cafe seems to have declined in quality over its ten years in operation. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this place if you're looking for flavorful and satisfying food. Food: 1/5 Service: 2.5/5 Value: 1/5 Recommendation: Avoid.
The restaurant is improving more and more each week. The menu is developing nicely, and the food is always freshly prepared right before your eyes. It's a fantastic place to eat.
