Restaurant bewertenI have eaten in all Deshantz restaurants and while they are all great, this is my favorite. The ambience, plating, service, cocktails and of course the food are all amazing. I can't wait to get back there soon.
Food is beyond delicious! Nice atmosphere and staff super nice and informative. Love to see the chefs in the open kitchen format. Definitely will go back!
Highly recommend! Our waitress Alyssa was amazing, we actually invited her to sit and join us. She was that inviting. A word for the food taste, prep and presentation would not do it justice, must be experienced.
Great atmosphere and food. Most of the plates are well sized for sharing, between an appetizer and normal entree.
Our first visit to the newly opened Fish nor Fowl was on a Friday evening and things were just beginning to hum as we arrived. We utilized a car service and were dropped off right outside the front door. There is a valet and of course plenty of street parking as well. Walking in we are greeted warmly by the host staff who immediately offered to show us to our seats. (we chose the upstairs bar and even though they don't normally hold seats there, it was no problem as there were enough spots given it was still early in the evening. We walk through the main dining room past the open kitchen where you can see all the action, as understated(focused as it is. The main DR has a wall of windows and a wall of plants, literally an entire wall of tropical plants! GORGEOUS! Up the stairs to the second floor, which is mezzanine style with a glass wall to aid in noise control I suppose, but it also happens to look stunning. The interior is bright and crisp and modern; as if Frank Lloyd Wright had designed the set for Logan's Run. (That is a HUGE compliment, btw. Even with all the clean lines and angles, the space is still very welcoming and comfortable. Now for the meal and service: Service first- Top notch. Evan and Heather in particular stood out, primarily for their knowledge, thoughtfulness and approach. All the folks we encountered were friendly, well put together and actively attending to guests and tasks at hand. Meal: I lived in New Orleans for 20+ years and have had some of the best food in the world prepared by amazing chefs. I can comfortably state that once again, The DeShantz Group has gotten it right. We had six dishes and each one was impeccably prepared, plated and presented. The ingredients are top-notch and obviously being created by a caring team of class-A chefs. I seldom go on about individual dishes because taste is so subjective but I am making an exception in this review. The 40 day, dry-aged steak was over-the-top delicious and as beef is my go to dish , every single time, I know what I'm saying here. Chef Dan, the major domo of steakness turned me into a groupie when he was at Butcher in the Rye and his execution is second to none. Now that he is here, I can still get my meat fix! The steak was charred perfectly to a succulent mid-rare that needed not much more than a fork to eat. We had: scallop crudo smashed new potatoes pan drippings and sourdough bread charred broccoli foie gras panzanella beef (the aforementioned steak I seldom mention pricing either because it's all relative; however, in my opinion, the prices are absolutely on par with all aspects of this level of dining and service. The crowd is sophisticated and dress is casual-elegant to as fancy as you want to get. We look forward to returning soon!
