Restaurant bewertenDriving to Canmore, headed off the main road to find something to eat and we're so happy to have discovered this place. Home cooking, home service and four very happy people!!
Took father in law and daughter there for lunch. He's 85 and she's 28 and was again delighted. GREAT food and comfy atmosphere. We're lucky to still have these types of places available.
Second visit and once again a great meal. Turkey dinner night (Sunday) just went tonight for 2nd visit for valentines dinner with the wife. The service is awesome and friendly and the home cooked food is spectacular. We will be making more visits in the future for sure
My girlfriend and I went to the Cross Conservation area to meet two of her friends. They gave us a great tour of the area which to a boy from Ontario had huge expansive vistas of the foothills near Calgary. There were fantastic views of the Rockies which made me fell like we were in a Lauren Harris mountain painting. After our tour our hosts took us to the View and Brew for lunch. It is a charming little restaurant on the side of a road and was quaint and funky at the same time. We were greeted by the owner and her son and had our choice of seats. The lunch menu is not huge and since I love meatloaf I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and it was served on a huge triangular with two big slices of excellent moist meatloaf. This was served with a small side salad of chopped fresh veggies. My girl friend had a grilled cheese with a thick slice of real ham which was also really good. My sandwich was excellent and very satisfying. The owner had a great sese of humour and made us feel welcome and her son really looked after us making sure we had enough coffee. Unfortunately we were full so we skipped dessert although it was pretty tempting as they were homemade and reminded me of my mom's dessert . In those famous words you Gotta Eat Here. Thanks to our hosts and the View and Brew for a fantastic day.
Hubby and I decided to go for a drive and give this a try for our Anniversary with along with another couple. Such a lovely quaint place. We had made reservations for 4 pm as we were told they close between 2 -3. We were also told they only serve Turkey dinner. Ok, what the heck, seen gotta eat here and turkey looked outstanding. Well at 10 min to 4, get a call as we are driving there asking if we are on our way, we said yes, she sad darn, Turkey is gonna take another hour, we figured what the heck we can sit and have a couple appies and a drink...um no. We get there and yes we did get wine but they have no appies, not even buns. We had saved our appetite all day so were starving. Very friendly staff, but she said to us she doesn't know why they booked us at 4 as they don't start till five, really? Apparanty they prepare all take out turkey dinners first. There were only about 8 tables occupied, Well our salad came to start and that was lovely. The turkey dinner was then served and looked amazing, it was cooked to perfection, BUT HAD NO FLAVOUR, I mean nooo Flavour. Everything was bland, thank goodness for the salt and pepper on table which we all kept pouring on our plates. We overheard our server tell 2 tables tell customers who had been waiting patiently that they were out of turkey and as there is nothing else, they left. Although prices were reasonable we were all hugely disappointed.
