The eponymous empanadas are good here. A few months ago, they were a bit more generously filled, but I actually like the dialed back innards a bit more given that they were a touch too saline even for my salt fiend self. The higher pastry shell to filling ratio makes for a more balanced bite now. What's even better than the empanadas, though: Venezuelan style filled cachapas. Soft, pliant, and studded with partially creamed kernels of sweet corn, these pancakes are toasted to a lovely golden brown and very generously stuffed with tomatoes, corn, lettuce, and your protein of choice. The mild sweetness of the pancake contrasts wonderfully with the salty meat or cheese and gently acidic tomatoes. Despite first appearances, this isn't really a sandwich it will absolutely fall apart if you try to pick it up but rather knife and fork food. It's worth the extra effort. :
I walked in a was amazed a how home-like the place looked. The lady working was very nice and the service was quick. Good prices and good empanadas which are always a plus
Empanadas Monumental makes a good Shredded Beef Empanada. The meat was moist and flavorful without being overly seasoned. They also had shredded chicken which turned out to be ground chicken and it was a bit dry and salty. On the other hand the banana shake was great and balanced the taste well. I would order again.
