The food, staff, and entertainment at this restaurant are all incredible! As someone with celiac disease, I felt great after dining here.

If you are traveling from Montreal towards Ontario on Highway 20 and feeling hungry, make sure to stop at Smoke Meat Pete. The smoked meat sandwiches are delicious and it is easier to access than Schwartz's, with plenty of parking available. This casual restaurant allows you to order at a window, pay, grab your drinks, and find a table. There is Blues music playing in the background and a stage for live bands, although there was no live entertainment during our visit at 2PM on a Wednesday. The staff member who took our order was friendly and even offered to help carry some of our drinks to our table. The food arrived quickly and it was obviously freshly prepared. The smoked meat was hot and flavorful, while the fries were deep-fried to a dark color but clearly made from fresh-cut potatoes. This authenticity in flavor is something rare to find, as many places use frozen factory-made fries. The combo special came with pickle slices, coleslaw, a sandwich, and a fountain drink. We even took a vacuum-packed full piece of smoked meat to go. Smoke Meat Pete's was a great pit stop on our way back to Toronto from Quebec City. Next time, we'll avoid the traffic on Highway 20 and choose a different route instead of crossing the Champlain Bridge. Bon appétit!

If you're not from Montreal, you have to try the smoked meat while you're in town! There are many places to enjoy smoked meat in and around Montreal, but Smoke Meat Pete's is definitely one of the most popular spots (and for good reason). The service is incredibly fast and mostly friendly. It can get busy, so be understanding of the servers. I have had the smoked meat several times and it has always been delicious. On my most recent visit, I tried something new - a smoked meat pasta (it's amazing). Depending on the size of your group, be prepared to spend a decent amount. The sandwiches are piled high with meat and the portion sizes of other dishes are also generous. Overall, it's a great spot for a vacation meal or to grab a bite with friends.
