Charlie's Dessert House - Launceston

My son-in-law has been dreaming about returning to this dessert bar since he visited last September. The “Brookie” is the highlight. It is part cookie and part brownie and comes in an iron pan with a scoop of ice cream. So delicious!

This place is outstanding. Eve I’ve tried is delicious and the best version, especially the banoffee pie and sticky date pudding. The service was friendly, helpful and fast. It is one of my favourite places in the world.

Five stars for Charlie 's is based entirely on the dessert it was incredible. The service was awful. But the dessert was so good it didn 't matter. Some details: I don 't know if Australia is suffering the same labor shortages as my home country. Maybe that explains Charlie 's staffing decisions. The restaurant was staffed by two young women who seemed utterly baffled by both the need to greet customers or operate a cash register. You could almost hear them saying OMG, my dad said I can 't use his credit card anymore so I have to get a job. A job! Can you imagine? What if my friends see me? The two employees were so bad the owner 's (or someone working there) pre teen daughter had to work running food from the back to customers while the employees stared at the ceiling and contemplated whether they 'd be going to Splendour this year. Anyway. Setting the awful service aside, when dessert finally arrived it was fantastic. Amazing. Huge value for money. After stumbling out the door satisfied with a sugar coma I decided even **** service can be overcome with fantastic food. Charlie, if you read this review, fire your staff and hire someone who represents the same quality service as the quality of your product. You should have a line out the door with how good your desserts are your staff are killing your business.

Lovey staff but we found a hair embedded in the middle of our cookie. Quiet a turn off, was clearly not from us as it was lodged between the pan and the cookie itself, Staff did attempt to replace it but requested a refund wasn’t a very good experience.

The delightful team at Charlie’s offer up a friendly smile and a nicely brewed cup of tea…..the cupcakes were also rated verily highly by the teenager
