Restaurant bewertenWhen I saw Ivan Ramen had set up in Omaha I was pretty surprised to see a Netflix famous ramen place pick our midwest city. I am happy to report that Ivan Ramen is in fact really, really good. I’ve tried (I think) all the ramen Omaha has to offer and Ivan Ramen manages to stand out with its unique take on noodles and generally high quality ingredients. I had the Shoyu with a side of the spicy Kyuru pickles and both were worthy of 5 stars.
The Japanese fried chicken alone will probably rope me in for another visit that soy caramel sauce was addicting!! Grabbed steamed pork buns and tonkotsu ramen as well. Pork buns were okay pork and bun cooked very well but not as much flavor as the other items. Would probably skip next time. Tonkotsu had excellent pork and broth flavor I actually preferred it a little more once I thinned out the broth a bit and re warmed everything back up. All items were packaged exceptionally well for takeout. This would be the only ramen in town that could rival Ika/Ikasan
Corn country dimwits. They can’t even tell me if Ivan Ramen is in the building at 416 12th. I was asked if “He’s a chef” by the host. Please don’t connect yourself with New York.
I ordered the Tonkotsu for delivery. The toppings were great. The broth tho, ?. It was more like brown gravy at Thanksgiving. It was so f’n salty, it would have detracted from the bowl even if the broth wasn’t so thick. First experience with Ivan Ramen, I would have to think twice if I would try again.
I wish I would have taken some photos. We heard of Ivan from a friend and we're excited to try it. It was nice to get some ramen and some sushi. We did takeout. The food was actually ready before the time that was quoted. I had the SPICY RED CHILI (dashi chicken broth, shoyu-glazed chashu, soft egg, bok choy) which no joke was super spicy. The presentation was really nice but sadly both the both and the other ingredients were not warm so I needed to put them in another bowl and microwave them. The spicy part was no joke. It was so spicy that I could not finish the broth. I like spicy but when it's too hot you can't taste anything. My spouse had the TONKOTSU RAMEN (rich pork broth, shoyu-glazed chashu, woodear mushrooms, pickled mustard greens, soft egg, and Maui). He says it was good but it felt like the broth was too concentrated. Parts of the broth seemed like a slurry of better than bouillon which wasn't great. He thought it had a good flavor though. We also had the SPICY KYURI PICKLES (Persian cucumbers, spiced rice vinegar). They were great. We definitely would like to try Ivan again. They will be a nice addition to the Omaha ramen scene.
