Restaurant bewertenOver the summer of 2018, a brand new café was added to the traditional ice cream parlour next to the beautiful and romantic Esrum Lake, near the Royal Castle of Fredensborg. The new, little building is very cosy with 6-8 tables where you can sit down for a coffee (excellent) and tea (also very good) and a piece of one of their absolutely fantastic homemade cakes, if you can resist the temptation to try more than one! You can also have a simple sandwich with ham, cheese and tomato pesto. All ingredients are super fresh and very tasty. Please note that the café does not have a permit for serving beer, wine and spirits. The service is extremely friendly and prices are quite reasonable, knowing that Denmark is of course generally very expensive. I loved my lunch and coffee break there on 1 November 2018 and can warmly recommend the place.
After a walk in the Palace Garden it’s a perfect place to have a cup of coffee or an ice cream. A stunning sunset can be admired here, too. The staff are friendly and smiling.
Always fresh, home baked cakes, good coffee and hot chocolate. Nice atmosphere and good service both inside and outside. View over Esrum Lake and very close to Fredensborg Castle, our Queen's favorit home.
I have know this as one of the best places to get a tasty ice-cream at a decent price for years but recently I discovered that you can enjoy a healthy lunch and exquisite cakes here also. On a rainy day we were looking for a place to get out of the rain and discovered that this place offered a tapas-like lunch based on their healthy, homebaked buns and a collection of quality meats, cheeces and jams. Yummi. As dessert you can chose between a dozen or so homemade and sophisticated cakes and gateaux with personality and taste making you hear the Angels sing. Cannot be recommended strongly enough!
If you travel to Fredensborg during the summer then skip the dessert where ever you plan to eat and the just visit the little Ice Cream house by the lake and taste some of the fantastic (and very big if you like) ice creams. And this summer (2017) you will also be able to have a great coffee and sit inside if the whether is bad. But 10 meters from the Ice Cream house you will find the lake and maybe the best sunset north of Copenhage. Kiss and enjoy
