Restaurant bewertenGreat place! Limited seating but high turn around of customers, you don't wait long for a table. Staff are very courteous and welcoming. You usually have to order/pay at the counter but we had a group of 6 people (1 of which had to sit at the end of the booth in a chair due to an ailment) so our server offered to take our order and payment at the table. Excellent customer service. We ordered onion rings for starters - they were great! Super crispy and the sauce they come with is awesome! Has a nice tang to it. Our mains were the Fats Domino, Beanie Weanie Dog, Hawaii 5-0, a Classic Burger Cone and the What's Wrong McFly?. The burgers were great on all accounts, the Cone had a huge, almost offensive slab of red onion which just doesn't work (it was promptly discarded). I loved my Beanie Weanie Dog. The chilli had a good flavour and the added jalapeños gave a nice kick without being overpowering. 100% would order one again. The biggest let down were the fries! The seasoning was great but they were overcooked. That's only a small complaint though. All in all we had a great time and experience, and we will be back.

Such a cool place with a real old school diner vibe. Really tasty burgers, fries and milkshakes. Really generous serving sizes too. The service is also really friendly. It can get quite busy here and the diner is small so you may have to wait around for a table. Would recommend for really tasty diner food
D O U G H ☆ B O X ☆ D I N E R A long standing establishment in Newtown/Enmore, serving us retro burgers, shakes and waffles since 2011 into the last hours the the night. We tried the Cookie Madness and the Caramel Affair Waffle, accompanied btythe most adorablist shake in town ✌@foodiesguidetosydney
After reading an article in the inner west courier about the Doughbox Diner, it was my new life’s mission to dine here. Rescheduling my week, I couldn’t wait another night and decided to go. Parking proved to be quite the challenge but after almost 25 minutes, we managed to find a spot. (But obviously street parking is beyond their control) Approaching the diner, the excitement was rising. It was like a breath of fresh air whilst walking in. Knowing that I wasn’t going to find a hipster in sight. Knowing that I wasn’t going to find quinoa on the menu. Knowing that they don’t serve some terrible trendy organic coffee. Knowing that there weren’t any healthy vegan options, straight away, I fell in love. I did the time warp and fell into a genuine 1950’s diner. It’s rock and roll heaven as the diner is fully kitted out in retro paraphernalia from black and white chequers to plastic red booths and a general feeling that you’ve just stepped into the Frosty Palace from Grease (or Hal’s Diner from A Cinderella Story if you’re from Generation Z). We were greeted by a stunning friendly waitress who’s uniform was your typical 50’s diner outfit finished with the most flawless pinup makeup application and a victory roll hairstyle that was on point. She sat us down, gave us traditionally designed menus, water and hot, perfectly salted popcorn! From here on in, we just knew it was going to be the ultimate experience. Whilst trying not to get distracted by looking at all the vintage décor and advertisements, we were gazing over the menu. It was so hard to narrow it down it one thing! First world problems, right? They have you covered from cheese fries to apple pie, from hot dogs to burgers, from shakes to soda floats and a really interesting concept called a Crepe Cone. (plus much, much more!) Each menu item was appropriately named. We ordered onion rings, the Johnny B Goode and the Hawaii 5-0. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word ‘perfect’ as having all the required or desirable elements, qualities or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. Needless to say, food was far and beyond. Like, most people don’t realise this, but you can eat organic, healthy, vegan and even gluten free food without having to tell everyone about it. If you’re keen on health and fitness as your diet consist of organic and vegan bullshit, this definitely isn’t an experience for you (but definitely one you are missing out on). I probably ate two months’ worth of daily kilojoule intake in one sitting but I don’t regret one thing. Served in a basket, it was salty, greasy, cheesy, messy… just sensational. They even have you covered giving you wet wipes! To wash it down, we also ordered a deliciously sinful cherry Coke soda float complete with genuine Coca-Cola Cherry Coke and ice cream served in a larger than life glass. Pushing it for dessert, it was only fitting to share The Big Topper. Whilst eating it, I forgot about all my problems in the world. My only mistake was thinking I wasn’t going to finish it and ordered one sundae to share. All in all, it was my first time here but definitely won’t be my last. Until I try everything on the menu at least twice, I will be your new regular customer. I would absolutely love to see this place expand and become bigger. Buy out each business on either side and grow so that way you're open 7 days for lunch as well as dinner!
