I have thought very carefully before posting this rating and critical review of a business. I Overall, the service and layout of this restaurant are fantastic with careful attention to details. The wine list is extremely comprehensive and praise should be given to the sommeliers on the service they provide. The food however was not very good. I felt it tried to be too fancy and intricate but ended up lacking flavour overall although the technique that went in to preparing the dishes was expert. I had the fish options for both entree and main both tasted bland. I had the chocolate option for dessert and although it was well assembled again it lacked flavour which was very disappointing. The bread and butter served throughout the meals was fantastic though! The service was good and attentive. Although there were alot of crumbs from the bread on the table and the waiters failed to clean it up even as they were bringing out dishes. Only when I starting gathering the crumbs up before dessert did a waiter notice and bother to clean it up. Furthermore, we were staying at Mount Lofty house on our honeymoon and the waiter congratulated us but did not give us anything complementary for this during our meal! I know I shouldn't complain about not getting anything for free but given the other smaller and less well renown establishments we dined at on our honeymoon threw in a free bottle of wine I thought this reflects on HVR poorly given how much we paid to dine here! Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like pretentious atmospheres and are a wine enthusiast.

Great fine dining experience at Hardy's Verandah with the 4 course menu choice. The experience from beginning to start was incredible with great tastes and flavours. The only disappointment was having to pay for water, and also the 7 course menu being set rather than customisable. An experience that I'd recommend trying.

Delicious food that is beautifully presented. Coriander curd with coconut ice cream was an amazing surprise. A lot of colour on the plates. Definitely recommend the full story menu.

My friends and I were disappointed with our degustation experience yesterday evening. The service was appalling, the food was very average, expensive for the price and there was no “wow” factor. For a degustation meal, there was neither a palate cleanser nor petit four served. We were also not offered any coffee or tea towards the end of the evening. And we had to go to the counter to pay for our bill! My experience yesterday definitely did not match the expectations of a fine dining restaurant and would certainly need improvement.
