Restaurant bewertenWe had a fantastic experience at Club Diwa by Alila. Our stay was made even better by the delicious food we enjoyed at Bistro, Vivo Spice Studio. Spice Studio is only open for dinner and it offers incredible flavors. The service provided by Paveen was excellent; he took great care of us. We only had vegetarian food, but the taste was amazing. Chef Anil and another friendly chef (whose name we don't recall) even made food according to our requests. The starters, soup, and main course were all very tasty. The ice creams here are exceptional.
I thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian dishes at this restaurant. The Singhara Kababs were exceptional! The ambiance was great and the chef was very friendly. I also recommend trying the coconut feni ice cream, it was delicious.
We have dined at many four and five star Indian hotels over the years, but this was our first time at Alila Diwa since it was taken over by the Hyatt Group. Our impression was that the focus now seemed to be on weddings and conferences, as there were only two tables occupied when we visited with our Sri Lankan friends who were staying at the hotel. We had hoped for a large fish that could feed all seven of us, but the options were either red snapper or pomfret, both of which were only large enough for two people. The food was well-prepared and delicious, and the service was attentive, likely due to the lack of customers. However, the portions were small and not worth the price. In our opinion, we have had better dining experiences at one of the Majorda beach shacks, and there are several local restaurants that offer better value for a special dining experience.
We visited the restraunt while staying at the property. Rating it two stars because the food was good. The service however was poor. The wait time was inexcusable.
Spice Studio is one of the restaurants in the fabulous Alila Diwa Hotel, although it is good enough to make a success on its own. Once settled in to your table, the warm welcome is just the beginning of an exemplory level of service. Staff...are attentive without hassling you, and are able to offer informed explanations of the various dishes. Meals start with a selection of the chef's pickles and chutneys. The set menus (both general and vegetarian) are imaginative and offer an easy introduction into the range of dishes on offer, but don't hesitate to ask the waiters' opinions on what you should choose.Seafood features highly through the starters and mains (unsurprising, given the amazing range of quality fish on offer locally). And give the seemingly limited dessert menu real consideration. Where else would you be offered as creamy milk-based dessert flavoured delicately with saffron and garlic? The drinks menu is as comprehensive as one would expect in a restaurant based in a premier hotel, and it is good to see that it includes a good range of local wines (well worth trying). This is not a cheap eatery compared with other restaurants in the area, but so worth trying if you are staying in South Goa. If you do, I'm certain like us you will return. We even took the in-house cookery session with the head chef that starts with a morning visit to the local fish market. So we came away not only with memories of a grat meal but some of the recipes to try at home.
