Very warm welcome in the evening. simple cooking with good products. the meat (veal) is excellent. homemade chocolate mousse.
Staying for one night in Tua during our bike trip along the Douro, we were lucky to discover the Restaurant Beira Rio. We first had a drink (glass of white Douro) and some appetizer.The view, from the shady terrace, of the valley and the river is enchanting. We then climbed the stairs to the restaurant, where we were welcomed by Luis, the owner of the place. We enjoyed an escabeche of river fish with caramelized onions just delicious. Then we had a grilled rib of beef, perfectly cooked. Simple but effective. We spend a nice time with Luis, who is former teacher from the Porto area who has established his company (Dourohearts) in Foz Tua.
We had lunch at this wonderful family run restaurant. Being English speakers we were immediately made feel, welcome by the additional attention we received from staff with some English. The food was great, the beer and wine cold and as stated the service attentive and caring, thank you for a wonder afternoon. Find this restaurant on the river, 900 metres down stream from the train station.
